Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:See picture attached…this inspired my pick today of “We’re Having a Heatwave” which inspired Ivy’s pick Oh Happy Day!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 4:53 pm #
CAS says:Lovely Debbi! The beads really do capture the colors nicely. Hard to believe though that those hats were considered the coolest things, yikes!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 4:57 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:I know…they were so cool…at the time. Now, not so much!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:07 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:omg – we wore those same hats for my brother’s wedding – September, 1974
and my dress was yellow! but the maid of honor wore mauve.
pretty pick!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:13 pm #
CAS says:Okay Debbi, here are some truly “stylin’” shoes, circa 1972 or 1973. I’m the brunette in the skirt with matching plaid vest, coordinated of course with the shoes. The others are my brother and sisters, also “stylin’” on the first day of school.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:27 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:too cute –
since we’re sharing…
I’m the one on the far left. like I said, sept ’74. I was 17.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:31 pm #
CAS says:Jeanne – you look cute, the hat as Debbi says “not so much”. I really have to question the peach shirts and brown tuxes.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:34 pm #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:Debbi, I couldn’t believe your picture! I was in my best friend’s wedding in 1973 and wore a dress and hat VERY similar to your bridesmaids. We all had different color dresses (mine was pink!) and white floppy hats. Brings back lots of memories.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:37 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:aw c’mon – don’t you like brown and peach?
besides I didn’t pick those colors.
I think I’ll hold off on my own wedding pic in ’81. You’ll really make fun of the powder blue tuxes and pink bridesmaids dresses.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:38 pm #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:Christine, are your sisters twins? Our groomsmen wore peach tuxes – can you believe it?
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:44 pm #
CAS says:No Cathy, they’re not twins, 16 months apart, but when they were little alot of people thought they were. It didn’t help that they were often dressed alike.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 5:47 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Christine, I LOVE the pic of you and your brother & sister! MY brother wore pants of a red, white & blue plaid to my May 1974 wedding…pretty close in pattern to your skirt and jacket! My brother was 8 years old…Jeanne, you were 17 in your photo (and beautiful!) I was an 18 year old bride. C’mon Jeanne…let’s see the pic of your wedding with the powder blue tuxes and pink dresses!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:02 pm #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:My husband is the one on the right and, yes, I did pick these colors! In 1977 this was the cool look.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:17 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Wow Cathy – so young.
so here it is – circa 1981
My husband picked the tuxes to go with his eyes. Don’t you just love my big pink tinted glasses?
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:29 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Awesome Cathy & Jeanne! Those colored tuxes = my floppy picture hats…what were we thinking?
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:37 pm #
CAS says:It’s not what you were thinking, it’s “what was the designer thinking”! Pray they don’t get it into their heads to bring them back again, since style cycles. I’ve seen pictures of Paris Hilton and some other celebs wearing spangled flapper-style headbands lately.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:40 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:oh no! headbands! not again?! hahaha
I forgot to mention my mom actually made my wedding gown. You can’t see the beautiful detail but I can tell you it’s the last thing she ever sewed! She quit after that gown! I think she hand sewed over 1,000 seed pearls!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:51 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Debbi ! you left out the most important detail! It’s beautiful!!! Do you still have it?
On Mar 07, 2009 at 6:54 pm #
CAS says:Bravo to your Mom Debbi!!! Wedding gowns are quite an accomplishment, my Mom made both of my sisters wedding gowns, 1,000 seed pearls and all. Tell your Mom she did a superb job on your gown, it’s lovely.
On Mar 07, 2009 at 7:11 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Thank you Christine & Jeanne! Yes, I do still have the wedding gown…and the flower bouquet…yuk! I’m sentimental and keep stuff like that. My son (who is now 31) didn’t realize I kept all of his baby teeth…a “lot” weird I guess! Yep, my mom did an awesome job and I can’t imagine how your mom managed to make TWO gowns Christine!
On Mar 07, 2009 at 8:16 pm #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:Debbi, we must be a lot alike because I, too, still have my wedding bouquet and all of my daughter’s baby teeth. She still doesn’t know this even though she is all grown up now. Your mom did a great job on your gown – it is beautiful! My mom sewed, but it would make her a nervous wreck to do something like that.

RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:Okay, I am ROTFL! This was worth all the egg hunting! Once this is over, I will share more, but what a unique and wonderful ?group? you all are!
On Apr 08, 2009 at 5:18 am #
RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:Oh, I also have my kids’ baby teeth. I thought I was the wierdest person in the world for hanging on to them, but I couldn’t let them go. They are like gemstones in wierd way.
On Apr 08, 2009 at 5:40 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:ok – not to be ignorant, but what is ROTFL?
On Apr 08, 2009 at 6:58 am #
RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:Rolling On The Floor Laughing!!

J Yee smart chick says:good morning chicks,

On Apr 08, 2009 at 12:53 pm #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Whew! Finally found it!! And SO glad I did, there is a wealth of groovy pictures here!!! lol Just gotta say I love those floppy hats and the color combos in each of the pics are great (yellow and pale blue, and yellow and pink) and TIMELESS
Thanks Debbi and Jeanne!
On Apr 08, 2009 at 9:46 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:that was a fun day – searching for and downloading the old photos.
great new shorthand, rubbertomato!
On Apr 14, 2009 at 3:56 pm #
RubberT aka Plucky Chick says:I got married in 1978, so I just want to make sure you know I was laughing “with you” and not “at you”!! Even though the egg hunt is over, I am still drawn to the LB site…not surprised, just surprised at how strong the urge is to get on and browse through the beautiful picks in a leisurely manner instead of a frantic pace!! As I said in an earlier place, it is like a facebook for beaders!!
On Jun 29, 2009 at 3:29 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:VALENTINE!!!!
Here are some of those “old” wedding photos I promised to find. Finally got smart and checked my 10 pages of favorites! LOL
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:01 pm #
Valentine Chick says:I got them! Yeah! How great and wild to see how styles have changed!!! Thanks for sharing Chickies! Too funny! Love all the outfits, and the ring bearer…too funny!
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:02 pm #
Valentine Chick says:Oh yea! I collect teeth too! I’ve got an idea you can use them for…necklaces!!! HEHE! Wouldn’t your kids think you were really weird then???
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:04 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I think Anita posted some too. Don’t think I have the energy to search all of her picks, though
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:07 pm #
Valentine Chick says:I remember being in my cousin’s wedding about the same time frame. We wore yellow, orange, and lime green. And not sun hats, but bonnets. Yes, you heard me correct bonnets like Little House on the Prairie. I think the older girls, bridesmaids wore sun hats. But us little girls wore bonnets. I remember my daughter found it one day, and said what is this. When I explained what it was, she thought it was the greatest thing and wanted to try my dress on too. I think I took a pic of her in it. I will look for it. Not sure why I still had the dress and bonnet though! LOL
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:08 pm #
Valentine Chick says:I think I saw Anita’s already. Go back around April 6 I think.
On Jun 29, 2009 at 4:15 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Do you have a photo of the bonnets? Just found the teeth reference – I have them too.
Too bad fresh picks aren’t dated. I’ll try to find april 6 LOL
On Jun 29, 2009 at 5:17 pm #
Valentine Chick says:Yes! I’m sure I have a photo. I’ll look at my mom’s today!
On Jun 29, 2009 at 5:55 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:ooooh – can’t wait to see it!
