This is super and welcome to your daughter! Have fun! This is really pretty.

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Southern Chick. I did this late last night and forgot to turn it on today. I just remembered it when I saw some new picks posted a few minutes ago. Sorry, a senior moment. LOL

  3. Cthings
    Cthings says:

That is great you can do this together!! She has wonderful taste!

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Cthings. She does other crafts as well and has just within the last couple of weeks taken an interest in beading. I’m glad because it is nice to have someone else to work with besides the children, and she picks things up quickly when I try to teach her.

Your daughter has great taste! This is a beautiful pick. My daughter appreciates much of what I do, but doesn’t have much interest in the design process. It’s so nice that your daughter shares your interest.

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Jeanne. I was really surprised because she hasn’t bothered since I started beading but I’m sure glad she had a change of heart. I love teaching. I sometimes think I should have been a teacher years ago. Tee,hee.

    Bright and fun!!! :-)
So glad you and your daughter can share this fun activity. Some of my best visiting times are with my beading buddies. ;)

    KPJEWELS says:

I’m just sittin back lapping it up, so to speak. Thanks Harriet. It seems to have brought us back together again. Hurrah!

    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Gorgeous pick…have fun with your daughter; it appears she has very good taste!! :-)

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Elaine. She does other crafts also and this I think will be good therapy for her until she gets everything under control with her depression.

  13. Elaine aka Belly Chick
    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Oh that’s good…probably anything she can do to redirect her thoughts would be a good thing. It is so easy to dwell on things, at least it is for me, and I know that it really isn’t a good thing. I hope things go really good for her! :-)

    KPJEWELS says:

Haven’t been talking to you for a while. Elaine. Thanks for the comments. She is improving slowly now that her doctor has her on depression meds and she is getting some phycological(sp?) therapy and then theres my son who has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis and if he doesn’t quit smoking, his doctor has given him maybe 25 years. Its been a fun summer so far. Not!!!! BTW, how’s your daughter doing?

    DOG Chick aka Angela says:

Wow this is a great pick! I am sorry that your kids are having so many problems right now. Hopefully psychological counseling and medications will help your daughter and your son might need it too. I wonder if the smoking is his way of dealing with depression! Sarcoidosis is no fun!

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Angela. My daughter has been having problems for a number of years and finally came to accept it and then went for some help, thank goodness. My son only just found out about the sarcoidosis but refused to give up the smoking (there’s no way I can quit) but I guess his last trip to the doctor gave him something to think about when she told him that he would be lucky to have 25 years left. No, he doesn’t have any depression problems, just stubbornness.

    DOG Chick aka Angela says:

Well, at least your daughter recognized her problem, that is the first step to getting better! Hopefully, your son will have his “ah-ha moment” now! I will pray for you and your family.
P.S. It is never too late to quit smoking and I wonder where he gets his stubbornness from? Angela RN

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Angela, it is so great to have the chickies to talk to about these kids of mine. I really get stuck when it comes to where do I turn next, but it feels so good to know that she is getting the help she has needed for so long. It is so great to see her becoming herself again, even if it is ever so slowly and I’m hoping the same for my son. His stubbornness comes from his so-called father, mainly. I can’t wait to see my son quit smoking as I’m sure he will be a lot happier and healthier. Thanks again.

  19. CAS
    CAS says:

I’m so happy that your daughter has moved back in with you. I moved back in with my parents when I was diagnosed with depression in 2007, and living with them has been a godsend for me. I did the whole counseling thing for a year, and I’m still on medication (which works really well for me). I take things sometimes a moment at a time, but it’s so much better than it was.

It’s good living with my parents because I’m not alone in dealing with the depression, my parents know my danger signs, and are able to remind me when I start slipping back into bad habits/thought processes. And for them they worry about me less, which they’d say is a godsend for them.

It won’t be easy for either of you. There will still be some REALLY BAD days, a lot of okay days, and some REALLY GOOD ones. The most important things are that she has realized she needs the help, and I can’t stress enough how that’s the biggest step she could make, and that you’re there to support her.

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks CAS for all the advice. I guess I haven’t really realized exactly everything I need to know about her depression yet and I guess I better get busy and do some googling. She does not live with me as she just bought a new home a short time ago but I try to spend as much time as I can with her. It has taken her a long time to admit to herself that she had a problem but I’m glad she has crossed that threshold. A couple of weeks ago she became interested in my beading and I have been working with her thinking that maybe it might be good therapy for her. Thanks again.

    Shannon aka Silly Chick says:

3K – I am so glad your daughter is getting help – it can be a long road, but it’s worth every single step (I’ve been there)! And beading with you might just be the best help of all! :)
This pick is gorgeous! Pink with abalone is precious – I would’ve never thought to put ‘em together and they’re just perfect! What a good teacher you are! “)

  22. Shannon aka Silly Chick
    Shannon aka Silly Chick says:

P.S. Love to you and to her XXXXOOOO… :)

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks Shannon. It is so nice to have her back. We were always close but haven’t been for the past 3 years or so. I know beading has been great therapy for me so I’m hoping it will help her also. Thanks Again.

  24. CAS
    CAS says:

NAMI, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, on-line and in your area should be able to provide you with lots of info. Huge hugs for you both!

    KPJEWELS says:

Thanks CAS, I will look into NAMI. Educating myself should help tremendously to understand things better so I can help her better. Sure need the HUGS. Thanks to all of you.

    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

What a gorgeous pick! I never would have thought about putting the oranges with the abalone, but it really brings out the abalone undertones! Your daughter has a great eye – I hope beading will be great therapy for her.

    KPJEWELS says:

Many thanks, Lilly and Sue. I am sure hoping that it will be as good for her as it has been for me.
