“4 Floyd U R missed”

Description from Bonnie R: Today we had to let our 16 yr old alpha male cat pass away. He had endured the indignity of having his ears removed from a bought of skin cancer and spent many years hunting, playing leaping games with emily mentoring the new kittens and snuggling with rainygirl. He maintained the "what is correct cat behavior" in his Harem. (3 females 1 male) He kept the dog(s) in line. As a few months old kitten he would sit on a ledge and whack the nose of our shepard mix. Got caught once in the cross fire and he had a pretty good paw. He earned the right to go out with as much dignity as we could give him. Floyd will be missed by all of at home.

This is him inside the catnip pen – we have to fence it since the dog likes catnip also. But it didn’t stop the cats.

So sorry to hear of Floyds’ passing. He looks and sounds like a character. Good for him! I miss all my cats who are gone, it is hard to let them go. He looks different without his ears but still very regal. Did he have white ears, and did they attribute the skin cancer to the pale skin/coat there?

Oh I am so sorry. I remember the horribleness of letting one of ours go after dealing with cancer for years. The next step would have been to remove his jaw and I couldn’t put him thru that. But losing him was so difficult. You have my condolences.

Oh, Bonnie, I’m so sorry to hear of Floyd’s passing. It’s always so hard to let go of a fur-child, no matter what age they are. What a lovely pick to honor him. He looks so handsome sitting with the catnip — even without traditional cat ears! My prayers are with you, Bonnie.

Bonnie, I wish there was something that could take the pain and sadness away. It is so hard to say ‘see you later’. To me, animals -especially our pets- are perfect earthly examples of God’s unrequited love. How we miss them so when they depart.

Anna used the word “regal”, which came into my mind as well when looking at the photo of your dearly loved Floyd. He must have been a very stoic cat as well. Those metallic coated quartz sticks seem to mirror his personality seen in that wonderful photo you shared.

Sorry for going on so long. But, thank you for sharing Floyd’s picture and photo with us. May you find some peace in the coming days knowing that Floyd had found the best human ‘parents’ to care for him while he journeyed here on earth.

Yes, His ears were White. Thats why he go skin cancer. It seems that if White cate sun themselves too much they run the risk of getting skin cancer.
And he was throughly the alpha male cat.
in charge, dignified and yes a pain in the butt. He liked to “grab” you if he wanted you to pay attention to him and he would “bite” but not hard enough to break shin just a love type bite. he was a better watch dog thatn any of our other dogs have ever been. It was HIS teratory not theirs.
if anyone has a alpha male cat you know what I mean. This was the first true alpha I have ever had.
After 16 years he definetly understood some words of english.
I and my husband was blessed to have him – we still have his sister but her health is failing fast also.
    Thank you all,
    Bonnie

So sorry for your loss, even without ears he was a handsome boy. Beautiful tribute!
