ChickyD aka Debra says:Great pick, Ivy! Can’t wait to see it finished. Hey, work-in-progress is good, too. I have some of those…LOL!
I picked up some of that wire lace ribbon a couple of weeks ago at a bead show. Fiddled with it a bit this week, but it’s giving me fits. Finally set it aside which made me mad as I had spent a good bit of money on it and some beautiful lampwork beads to use with it. Let me know how it goes!

Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Thanks Debra! I haven’t actually used the wire lace yet, so I too am a little worried on how it’ll go…let me know how you make out with it!

Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Thanks Southern Chick and Chicky LE
Unfortunately though my camera sucks (can we say that on here? lol) and every time I try to take a decent pic it just doesn’t come out right.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Beautiful pick! Can’t wait to see the one you’re working on!
Love the necklace in your photo! What is it? Too bad we can’t enlarge those too.
Question – Has anyone actually use the gg pewter seashell? I have one – It’s larger than expected (i know – the dimensions are posted) so I haven’t figured out what to do with it.

J Yee smart chick says:Wow Ivy, another way beautiful “ocean” Pick, such a lovely necklace you’re working on!!!!
… sorry to hear that your camera “sucks”, sure need a good camera these days to be able to photograph jewelry effectively! Well, do hope you’ll post some pics of the necklace when you get it done…
Jeanne I too was slightly surprised to see the actual GG seashell pendant in person as being a bit “larger”, usually when I see beads like that in person they do look somewhat smaller than the onscreen images…

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Joyce the seashell was supposed to be part of a necklace for Sam’s best friend – a graduation gift. But it is too big. Sam will used the saying, but we have used a smaller pendant
In the meantime, I’ll hang on to it till the spirit moves me.

Wemai Coffee Chick says:Gorgeous pick, Ivy! I agree about the size-trouble, how can it be so difficult to “see” them before you order it, and why is it so difficult to bring the ruler and measure, if you understand what I mean!? I have done mistakes a lot of times! :-ยง
On Jun 08, 2009 at 6:20 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:Jeanne, I’m sorry to hear that this pendant was too big for the necklace that Sam made for her best friend’s graduation! I’m glad that she figured out some other pendant that is smaller to use! Hope that you’ll find the right piece for that shell pendant, it is lovely.
Wemai, I totally agree about figuring out the actual size of beads… not so easy, I notice that LB has size pics on many of their beads to help us figure out what the actual size is… have you found this info? just click on a bead’s image and the info should come up, although it’s not listed for every bead…
this is why it’s good to be able to see beads “in person” so we can tell how big or small they are… not always possible if bead shops don’t exist in our area where we live, and/or they don’t carry the beads we’re looking for!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Sam’s still going to use the great quote!
We used the fly pendant with 4mm beads and pewter spacers.
I visit my local shops just to see what different stones look like in person. I also have a metric ruler I’ll use for a ballpark size. I brought it home from school lol.

Lynn Eileen Chicky Lee says:Jeanne & Joyce — I have the seashell pewter piece, too, and it is much larger than I expected it to be (even though I know how to read the LB chart!). Kept it and will use it for something, just not sure what…..
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:13 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Well, if you use it before me, let me know. I think the holes are throwing me. I see maybe using it off center, but not sure what to do with the double and triple strands.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:15 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky Lee says:I agree, Jeanne. Also, it’s heavier than I expected. Whoever uses it first has to let the others know, OK? LOL

D D Mystic Chick says:pretty pick Crazy Chick! good luck with that necklace! keep playing with it and I’m sure something will click…
I have the “Beader’s Companion” wirebound book from Beadwork magazine to help me visualize size which helps a lot but I still have some surprises when something is not the size I expect…
color is another troublesome thing with monitor colors being different and some stones just photograph differently.

Chicky Bear-Tara says:Hi Ivy…I didn’t know that was your name until now. Great pick. Love the colors and the name. What is the wire lace ribbon? I haven’t seen or used it yet.

Valentine Chick says:Love your color combo Ivy! Way beautiful!
On Jun 26, 2009 at 11:23 am #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Hi, chicks! Thanks for all the comments. I’ll keep that in mind about the seashell pendant, although I do like big focal pieces. Tara, wire lace ribbon is like a mesh ribbon strand made of very fine woven wire. You can either use it to string or you can actually put beads inside it. It kinda looks like fishing net, (which fits the theme of this necklace) but very, very fine. Comes in lots of cool colors.
