Beautiful pick, with wonderful colors and shapes!

A number of years ago I was taking a media graphics class where we had to design a poster using various kinds of alphabets produces with hand lettered, rub ons and several techniques I no longer remember. For my project I cut my poster so it looked like the back of a VW bus and my various forms of lettering were done like bumper stickers. My favorite one was “Custer Wore Arrow Shirts.”

ROTFLOL!!! Love the pick, and LRC, you are a kindred spirit. I like the bumper stickers that say things like “my car is really a cloaked Klingon ‘Bird of Prey.’”
I grew up on books by Andre Norton, Heinlein, Asimov, and many others. LOL :-)

    My favorite bumper sticker is
    VISUALIZE WHIRLED PEAS

And Arther C Clark, Vonda McIntyre, H.G. Wells and all of the other old time Sci Fi writers. Love the old space operas. Love the Klingon sticker.

I haven’t see the whirled peas in quite some time, Chica Chick. One of the most off the wall bumper stickers I’ve ever seen encompassing all of the current issues was Nuke the gay whales for Jesus. Hope I didn’t offend anyone with that…..

  8. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

    Only the gay whales. LOL

Not that there’s anything wrong with that…..(homage to Seinfeld!) ;-)

Chica Chick, I love your fave bumper sticker! Very funny, either way you take it! LOL

This is a very colourful pick, LRC. Love it. BTW, talking about bumper stickers reminds me of when my children would pre-teens and we were following a car (my ex-husband used to tailgate a lot) downtown and there was a bumper sticker on the car in front of us that read: “If you can read this, you are too close. Get closer and I will flick a booger on your windshield”. Of course, the children and I took to laughing. Their father didn’t see the humour in it and wondered what we were laughing at. The children asked if he understood what it said and his reply was, “What’s a booger?. Well, we just cracked up at that one and the children still tell people about it. ROTFLMBO.

  12. KPJEWELS
    KPJEWELS says:

Oops, that should have been ‘when my children were pre-teens’.

  13. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Evelyn, that is doubly funny!!! 1 — the bumper sticker itself and 2 — your ex’s reaction! LOL

this post is a stitch! ROTFLOL!! LRC, this is a really dynamic pick – very energizing! You have another kindred spirit with you and Harriet – I’ve been a sci fi fan since grade school – was a big Bradbury fan back then – can you say Martian Chronicles? My latest fav authors are James P Hogan and Charles Sheffield. Read everything by Andre Norton. And Anne McGaffrey – I am still thinking of getting a fire lizard tattoo – what do you think?

  15. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Sue, you gals would get along great with hubby Bob — he has all the Ray Bradbury books, H.G. Wells, Arthur Clark….. Even got me to read and enjoy some of them! :D

  16. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue
    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

I knew I liked your Bob!! another thing we have in common! Hey, tell him to read “Armor” – can’t remember the author – it’ll make you look at ants in a whole new light! and that’s all I’m going to say about that!

  17. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Sue, I just Googled the book “Armor” and there is one by John Steakley that is “a classic military sci-fi novel” about a man named Felix and a planet Banshee. Is this the one?

  18. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue
    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

Yep, that’s it! although my Bob doesn’t read sci fi, he read that one – and actually liked it!

  19. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

Hey Sci Fi chickies have you read Harry Harrison’s Stainless Steel Rat series? I read them ages ago and they were entertaining. And I remember fondly Edgar Rice…uh.. and how in the heck do you spell his last name? You know the guy that wrote Tarzan and John Carter of Mars? Ancient but a unique concept.

  20. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

    Burrows?

  21. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Nope, it’s Burroughs. Just looked it up!

  22. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue
    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

Hey, LRC, haven’t read that series by Harrison! I’ll have to check that out – thanks! Have you read the Honor Harrington series by David Weber? Great read!

  23. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

Thank you, oh keeper of the encyclopedia. I knew some one would come through with the spelling. We didn’t spell words with that many syllables in kindergarten.

  24. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

I’ve read a couple of the Honor Harrington. Real old time sci fi. I doubt you will be able to find the Harry Harrison books unless you have a used book store that carries paper backs. Don’t think they have done a reissue of them for many years.

  25. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue
    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

LRC, thanks for the info. I’ll check around a few used book stores. Maybe Amazon has them in the used section?

What a trip down memory lane! Yes, the Tarzan and John Carter books (some of the first my dad let me have), Honor Harrington, Clark, McIntyre, Wells, McCaffrey,M.Z.Bradley’s “Darkover” series, Manly Wade Welman, and on and on….

One of the worst parts of moving to our current home was going through and choosing which books to bring—and then, having to move all those remaining books and put them on shelves. That was work!!! LOL
