Chicky Suz aka Susan Z says:Yes, we pick certain apples in late Aug but Sept is the best month for all. They are early in Sept this year due to all the rain we got this summer. Plus it was hot for a little bit, then cool for awhile! I guess the apples love that! Thanks Lilly!

I love tart crisp apples. I love Winesap! And then there’s Honey Crisp…now there’s an apple I think you’ll love. It literally snaps when you bite into it! It’s fairly new on the market and I’m not sure if they grow them in our neck of the woods yet. If you get a chance, try one!

I found them at a Health food store nearby. They have a VERY short season so they’re not around for more than a few weeks. Some years I get to the store in time, sometimes not. I did actually find Honey Crisps at Wal-mart last year! so they must be getting more common.
I have a Honey Crisp in our orchard at home but it’s not old enough to bear fruit yet. They seem much more susceptible to insect damage too.
We’ll see.
