Description from Sarah aka iamhydrogen: Continuation on today's cocktail theme in celebration of summer & the long weekend!
The Aviation is another older, more obscure cocktail, but it's really delicious!
Maraschino is exactly what it sounds like: liqueur made from Marasca cherries, otherwise known as maraschino cherries. It's made with the pits as well as the fruit; it smells like cherries but tastes more like bitter almond.
Creme de violette is a purple liqueur with a very sweet, floral aroma.
2 oz. dry gin
1/2 oz. maraschino liqueur
1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/4 oz. creme de violette
Shake the first 3 ingredients over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Drizzle the creme de violette into the glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
