Granny Chick aka Nancy says:Oh my MaryLou, where do you live! Your pick certainly does a great job of making one feel icy for sure. You need to stare at some of the more spring picks to warm up.
) Great job.

foxhill designs vt says:MaryLou, this is a gorgeous pick! Never thought of combining chalcedony with labradorite.
We are expecting the cold also. Sending the kids out to play in the snow today, before the artic blast hits.

Julie Shane says:Beautiful! I can almost feel the chill. Actually I’d welcome some cold. We had a “cold snap” on Friday and it dropped to 40. Maybe a little more cold weather will head our way soon.
I’m glad I don’t live in the snow zone, but I sure would like to spend a couple weeks playing in the snow! Give me a snowmobile for a few hours and then a roaring fire to warm up. Heaven on earth!

puppychick labratbecky says:Minnesota? do you live in MN with me? Our weather took a nasty dive yesterday! Hubby and I went out for a run at about 1 p.m. when the wind was constant but not too bad and the temp was 39. An hour later the wind was howling and screaming at 60 mph and the temp dropped 40 degrees. Yikes. This pick is PERFECT for the weather here today! To the faves!

Lady425 aka Beth says:Definately a great depiction of the icy cold. I can feel the wind on my face. lol Brrrrrr
Wonderful pick, MarLou.

J Yee smart chick says:MarLou, the labradorite and chalcedony go beautifully together, wow – I’ll quit complaining about what I thought were cold temperatures up in the Pacific NW, since we are nowhere near temps in the minus range like you are!!

NY Bella says:This is definitely a beautiful, icy pick! We’re going into freezing temps this week, too! Brrrr…

MaryLou says:Hey, Becky! Minnesota it is, but across the River in St. Paul!
I guess I realized you were also from Minn., and even gathered you work in a Hospital.. HCMC maybe? Anyways, thanks for the comments, I really like the conversations that go on here at LB!
Oh and Julie, I was thinking of you.. remember last summer when I threatened a visit in January, this is why!! Florida is a warm thought…;)

Julie Shane says:Come on down MaryLou!
Becky was just here for the relay run and she was loving the weather.
I lived in Utah for 3 years and we had below freezing at home and below zero in the mountain passes. It was a great place for a short time. Loved the snow. However, I returned to FL when it got overwhelming.

puppychick labratbecky says:MaryLou, I am in Mendota Heights, not Mpls, still across the river from you in St. Paul but a St. Paul suburb. I work at Regions, Level I trauma center extraordinaire.
I deal with the bugs that cause infections in all those traumas. Yes, I was in FL but didn’t have time to drop in on Susie or Julie. Maybe next year….
On Jan 20, 2013 at 6:40 pm #
MaryLou says:Becky, why did I think Mpls? Anyway, I live in Oakdale, not far from you, and have high reguard for what you do!
And YES I think the temps did fall 40`in a few short hours. Brrr!!

Laud says:Lovely pick and sooo timely. *waves to everyone in the icelands* We’re looking at -4 Monday night. Not so bad, considering we’ve had -30 some years. Julie, I envy you.

Crazy Chick Frida says:Coold ice cold beautiful pick
On Jan 21, 2013 at 11:41 am #
OK Jacki says:Whoa – MaryLou this is a gorgeous pick, but we’ll just have to get weather updates from you. -4, well… ‘minus’ anything is too cold for me. Julie we may all converge on FL at once. MN girls, I worked for Fisher Rosemount years ago and traveled to Minneapolis regularly. One trip during the first week in Jan & the Ice Castle on the river was spectacular. Saw it in lights from the bridge one evening. We decided to wait and come back to visit it later in the week. The next day a warm front came through and they had to shut the castle down because it was melting. Bah! Do they still build those beautiful ice castles?
On Jan 21, 2013 at 11:41 am #
OK Jacki says:p.s. this pick is into my faves!
On Jan 21, 2013 at 12:24 pm #
MaryLou says:Sunday was the beginning of the winter carnival celebration. They have never built of a castle as beautiful as that , but yes they do you still build snow and ice castles, have a ice carving contest, several races on the lakes and all kinds of parades . it has to be at least 20 degrees for them to get me out and about to see any of that!
