“Beachin' Bermuda”

Description from Kristine S: Bermuda has several pink sand beaches. The "pink" in the sand is caused by foraminifera or "forams" which are microorganisms. The pinks range from brownish-pink to almost a peachy-berry pink.

Fabulous!! I learned about foraminifera in my invertebrate biology classes. They have calcified exoskeletons and crush into sand as does coral. They are beautiful geodesic forms under a microscope! :)

Hi Becky and all the great Lima Ladies! It’s been awhile! We spent a week in Bermuda in June. I highly recommend it – short flight from the East Coast, quaint towns, good food and friendly people. It’s not cheap, but it’s one of those places you just say “to heck w/the cost”. There is some amazing geology and just hiking the beaches, one cove to the next, made the entire trip worthwhile.
