Description from Deb Harding: I have a box of wood beads and also a big box of shell beads. I'm thinking of making necklaces along the lines of Asia's Bohomian Big Ball. These would combine a small string of wood beads with 1 random shell, flower, or ceramic bead or a small section of pearls set asymmetrically on either leather or hemp with silk ribbon completing the part around the neck. My neighbor makes beautiful wooden swings and takea them to a local shop to sell. He says he can probaby get the owner to take my necklaces. I'm thinking this would be a fairly easy and inexpensive but still stylish way to start. What do you think?

Laud says:Good idea! I have a strand of freshwater clam shells that’s been waiting for inspiration. The shells are heavy; too many would make for an uncomfortable necklace, but with wood or paper, they’d be fine. Your pick suggests a lot of ways to go, so thanks!

Deb Harding says:Yea and wood beads are so light. I think with a really pretty button or toggle and ribbon it would look nice. I’m also trying to stretch the more expensive items to several pieces to lower cost.

Deb Harding says:LOL to the Bella compliments. That’s one big stubborn baby that just walked up in my yard in August 2009. Apparently part Pit and we think Golden Lab. All the neighborhood kids are her best friends. They come knock on my door to see if she can come outside.

Just remembered: That day Mom was beading with me she used a mess of wood beads that were just hanging around. She called it Wood Nymphs in the Design gallery. She was playing around with alternating the big chunky beads with the tiny spacers.
