J Yee smart chick says:Thank you chicky LE and funny chick!!! it’s the end of the quarter and I’m also wishing for some calm soothing vibes, I had my last “in person” residency class yesterday for one of my two courses and have the last class for my other course tomorrow, kinda LOW on brain cells right now!!!! I’m glad that LB has these fun freeform blue lace agates back in stock, these are what sparked this Pick!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:38 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:I love the freeform stuff, I have to use them more often!!! So, it sounds like things should be calming down a bit for you!!!! What-cha gonna do with your summer?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:39 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Joyce! I hear you are having fantastic weather! So happy for you! This is very serene…… lovely – and I see you’re still loving that rosy white! me too!

Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Hi ya, Smoky Rose, how’s things???? missed you!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:42 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Sounds as though it’s been a super-busy time for you, Joyce! When do your next classe start — in July? Have you heard anything from your interview from a couple of months ago?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:43 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Make that “classes” — oops.
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:44 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:I’m still gonna be taking courses this summer. however one is an independent study so I’ll get to do some volunteering with an organization here in the Seattle area that focuses on working with the communities involved in a huge EPA superfund cleanup of the Duwamish river.
Other than that, I wanna do some more beading this summer, spend time w/ friends and figure out if I can travel even locally… school sure cuts into my social life, and I’m starved for some creative and fun activities…. wanna find some bead classes to take, a local bead shop actually has a class coming up on those fun birds nests that little chicky posted the instructions for, I think I wanna take it, it’s not very expensive and I like to do such classes in person cuz often teachers will give hands on info that is somewhat hard to get from web info… don’t get me wrong I know one of us posted pics of the steps… was it Dizzy chick?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:45 pm #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:This is SO calming – perfect name! Can I go with ms turtle?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:45 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Hi Anita!!! have missed you too! I’ve been here on and off today, snoopin on you gals…. trying to finish off my Victoriana piece – the one I revealed my weirdness to all of you with. Darn thing is a tad intimidating… maybe, in part because of all the emotion tied to it at this point. How are you?! How is Wisconsin? are you able to enjoy some better weather than those of us on the E coast?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:49 pm #
CAS says:I’m glad Ms. Ceramic Turtle is getting her zen on, and I hope you are too Smart Chick! Lovely, lovely … oooohhhh … aaaahhhh …
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:50 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Sounds like you’ll be busy, Smart Chick!!!
Smoky Rose, We had all that rain earlier this week, so, now it’s beautiful!!! You’ve been working too hard on that piece, you’ll have to take a longer break & chat for awhile!!!! LOL……….But, I do know how frustrating a piece can be, been there!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:50 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:hey smoky rose, I’ve also missed your comments and Picks lately!!! how are ya??? yeah, can’t believe the fantastic weather we just got thru a couple of weeks of way sunny but HOT weather (for Seattle
… now temps and sunshine are fantastic, daytime we’re in mid-seventies, PERFECT!!!
Lynn, thanks for asking about that scholarship interview I had back last month… no I haven’t heard but the guy said that the committee will let people know by first week of July probably… the interview didn’t go well, and I was dismayed… but am planning at this point to take out some loans for 2/3 of the cost and pay the remaining 1/3 from my dad’s support and my own funds…
yeah I’m still going to take a couple of classes this summer (for school), want to do some fun creative stuff too… like that birds’ nest class that a local bead shop has…
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:51 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:hey chickies, excuse my manners: what are all of ya planning to do this summer???
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:53 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Yes, Dizzy Chick posted step-by-step pix. I’m like you, Joyce, I love to take classes and get that hands-on training. You usually get extra info and tips you don’t get from printed instructions.
Plus, if you have questions, there is someone in front of you to answer them. Actually, I should have said “when” I have questions, because I always do! LOL
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:55 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:yeah me too Lynn!!! wirework isn’t one of the areas in beading that I feel comfortable so that is why I too like such classes cuz we can see an instructor demonstrate the steps and answer questions and give tips…

Smoky Rose says:I hear Seattle is looking at drought issues – we’ve got all your rain, I think! I’ve missed being here and all of you – you have all never been far from thought. Between my mom’s eyes – and work being quite busy, I haven’t been here a ton – but it’s good medicine to be here and am wanting to try to fit it back into my schedule more routinly again.
On Jun 13, 2009 at 4:58 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Well, Smart Chick, it’s tourist season here, so nows the chance to sell, sell, sell!!! So, that means shows + gotta run the shop & have a few classes!! So, I hope my hubby & I can get away for at least a weekend sometime this summer!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:03 pm #
CAS says:How is Smoky Hen Leona???
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:05 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:Smoky rose, hmmm wouldn’t surprise me if Seattle does have a drought, it’s been so dry these past few weeks w/ all the hot temps and sunshine!!! how’s your mom doing w/ her recovery from her eye surgery??? I agree, I’ve been immersed in school stuff lately and haven’t been on much too, sure miss all the chats, so helpful…
funny chick, what a BUSY summer you’ll be having too, w/ all the tourists, shows, running the shop and having classes… hope that you and your hubby do get to have at least a weekend away this summer!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:09 pm #
Smoky Rose says:CAS, Smoky Hen is good! Thank you! Period of adjustment for sure – she has always been so very independent. You know, my folks are probably where I got my wanderlust from. Smoky Hen Leona was fed up with Chicago’s weather – had a great job with the airlines, so transferred ALONE to Phoenix…. this, in the 1950′s – women just didn’t do that then. So, you see, she is an independent lady. She’ll be ok though… thank you so much for asking. I will tell her you asked
– it’ll really tickle her!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:13 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:So glad to hear she is doing OK, Mary! Tell her she is welcome here anytime!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:14 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:smoky rose, thanks for the update w/ your mom Leona, plus the story about her moving from Chicago to Phoenix, I sure can relate!!! no disrespect to northwest Florida but I was sooo uncomfortable w/ the hot humid temps in the summer, it’s much more comfortable up here in the pacific northwest!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:15 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Thank you, Lynn Eileen, I sure will!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:16 pm #
Smoky Rose says:where did you grow up, Joyce? – did you say Hawaii?
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:18 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:Yep, sure did grow up in Hawaii, still miss it very much!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:20 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Smoky Rose, Glad to here your mom’s doing alittle better, hope things turn out GOOD for her!!!
On Jun 13, 2009 at 5:22 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Smart Chick, It’s got to be hard to leave a place with perfect weather most of the time!!! Do you plan on moving back when your done with your education??
On Jun 15, 2009 at 1:40 am #
J Yee smart chick says:Thank you for the question funny chick! I’m unsure about moving back after I’m done w/ my degree, the economy isn’t an easy one to make a living in even when the U.S. is doing well overall, unfortunately – not enough diverse options, there’s mostly tourist and government jobs, not much else… sorta like Seattle had that dilemma awhile ago, w/ just Boeing and Weyerhauser, till Microsoft got going…
