“Castro Valley, CA”

Description from Artful Chick aka Siobhan: This pick describes what I saw and felt during my visit to my son's new home. There were oranges and lemons on trees, blooming rosemary with fragrant purple flowers, daisies, cherry blossoms, blue skies and plenty of sunshine. And no snow! My one grandson who is autistic has come so very far since my last visit. On the first day of my visit, he climbed on my lap for the first time, and we had breakfast together. His social awareness and participation was amazing. I believe that one of the keys to his progress is the love and devotion of his parents. And he's not done yet.

Thank you all so much. My grandson Sean (my namesake) will be 5 in April. He was diagnosed when he was 2 1/2, so early detection has truly worked in his favor. And he is just the sweetest! Right now, he’s not quite verbal, but all his other skills have come a long way. Here’s my favorite photo of him.

Sean is just adorable! What big, blue eyes he has! Thanks so much for sharing with us about Sean and for sharing your favorite photo! :D

Siobhan, is your name pronounced like Sean’s or is it a shortened version?

    Artful Chick aka Siobhan says:

My name is pronounced Shuh-vaughn. It is the feminine for Sean. I think the Irish can’t spell for beans (LOL)! The names are Gaelic – Sean is John, and Siobhan is Joan. Thanks for asking!

Oh, and my last name is Sullivan. My maiden name was Sheehan, and my middle name is Brigid. I still think my parents were possessed by leprechauns when they named me (LOL)!

I thought your name was pronounced the way you say it — I knew another lady who pronounced it that way. Thanks for the translation of the names, too! I love your explanation for your parents’ name choices! LOL :D
