Helen G aka tea chick says:oh, this is just *stunningly* beautiful! I was just reading about the cherry blossoms of Washington, DC, now in their 99th year! The trees in Washington were a gift of friendship from Tokyo in 1912. Obviously, this year’s cherry blossom festival has a veil of sadness due to what Japan has been through recently, so they will be having a vigil and fundraising walk called Stand With Japan.

FaeryGoth Chick says:Thanks for all the nice comments ladies! Must be so beautiful to see the cherry blossom festival in DC. It really is sad that the whole terrible situation in Japan will cast a shadow over this year’s edition.

J Yee smart chick says:Sarah, stunning Pick for such a beautiful tradition – the trees in Washington, D.C., and the ones in Japan – agree that it is very sad that this year, Japan’s is afffected very much by the recent disasters, and the resulting drop in tourists.
The University of Washington’s main campus in
Seattle also has several cherry trees that bloom every year too, very pleasant too, this pick sure evokes the amazing beauty of these trees in bloom!

FaeryGoth Chick says:I am glad that you like this pick Joyce, so do I
I love the blossoms. All the fruit trees in the orchard are in bloom now and it is just beautiful to see. I would love to see the trees in Japan, I guess it is a wonderful sight. A shame of the recent horrible events in Japan…
