“Chinese New Year”

Description from Laurel K: San Francisco Chinatown is gearing up for Chinese New Year. This is one of my favorite city celebrations. Chinatown and many other places in the city are decked out in reds and golds, and a sort of festival atmosphere permeates the neighborhood. The big celebration is usually in early February. This year is the Year of the Dragon!

Kicking off the festivities, however, is the huge flower market that is held about the second week of January. There, people buy lucky citrus trees (kumquat is popular) and sweets like Moon Cake (more of a thick, sweet paste filled pasty) to give to friends and family.

Wow. CNY sounds like a ton of fun if you live somewhere that has a Chinatown. Great pick. I like the thought you put into the various elements. I have never seen those lanterns before. They go great!

Mmm love these bright, rich colors! I SO wish we had a Chinese New Year festival here, but I guess NYC isn’t too far to travel for such a beautiful celebration :)
