Description from Marlene: Gave the LB website a real workout trying to depict a Chinook Sunset! From left to right and top to bottom on the Fresh Pick, a Chinook Sunset would start with the deep dark blue evening sky (the blue goldstone has tiny stars shining in it - perfect), turning to deep purple, deep pink, lighter pink, then the light blue of the sky between the arch of the cloud and the mountains, then the bright red of the sunset reflected in the snow on the mountaintop (the mountains sometimes look like they're on fire), then the dark brown/greens of the mountains, all suspended on a 3-link chain with a great tube that reminds me of the winds blowing snow in curls on the tops of the mountains - can't exactly capture nature's beauty, but sure brings some great memories to mind!

Marlene says:Thank you Elis Mom, Alice and Becky. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, just on the east side of the Rocky Mountains. The Chinook arch and the winds that come with it are a phenomenon that happens along the Rocky Mountains from north of here, and I believe all the way south into the north part of your country – it is a delight to see, and a bain to some of us who suffer from migraines, as the air pressure changes dramatically and swiftly. We can go from 20 above to 10 below in the matter of an hour or two, and from several inches of snow to slush and water, or from snow parkas to t-shirts in the same day!

OK Jacki says:Marlene, thanks so much for sharing this beautiful phenom. Love your pick and your description. I may have to add a Chinook Sunset to my ‘bucket list’ along with Aurora Borealis. It’s hard to beat nature. Awesome pick.

or Google Chinook Sunset.
It’s as if Marlene has given us an earth science lesson on LB. See…we are being productive while playing with Fresh Picks. lol

Marlene says:I found another picture of a Chinook Arch with the colours I was remembering. You can’t see the mountains in this photo, but when they have snow on them, they reflect the deep red colour of the chinook arch – it’s awesome. Thanks for taking time to look it up. Every part of the world has its own beauty, doesn’t it?
