Mary S - Sweet Chick says:WOOO HOOO!
I’m SO excited for you Jeanne!!
Wishing you much success and LOTS of sales.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:00 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you Mary! I credit all of the chicks for encouraging me. I should be stringing right now – lol
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:03 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Jeanne, you will do fine! And it is always a learning curve re: what sells best and what clients you will draw in a particular venue.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:13 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Jeanne, how exciting for you!!!!!! I know you’ll do great! The pieces you’ve shared with us are GORGEOUS!
Harriet is right, I’m sure the first time will also be a learning experience for you. Just know that you have the Power of the Chicks behind you and you can do anything!!!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:18 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you chicks! I purposely chose a small fair, although it will be on a well traveled road. At the time of my application there were no other jewelry exhibitors. The stressful part is that it is in 2 weeks!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:20 pm #
Michelle Downy Chick says:This is exciting Jeanne! Congrats! I’m sure, having seen some of the pics of your work that you have posted, that you will be very succesful!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:23 pm #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Congratulations Jeanne! I am so happy & excited for you!
Your jewelry is beautiful! This first time at a fair will be a learning experience but a thoroughly fun one!
Relax and enjoy making jewelry for the fair…don’t push so hard to make the jewelry that you lose the joy…that is your focus…sharing your joy! And some nice sales won’t hurt!
Depending on when the fair is, do you have enough time to get some necklace busts? Or an earring rack? I like to display on white…CAS had some very creative ideas for Little Chick in a fresh pick blog before Mother’s Day.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:36 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I prefer white too. and I am thinking of a bust or two. I’ll have to order right away as no one else ships as quickly as our beloved LB.
I do understand about relaxing and sharing my joy. I’m torn between whipping out a few simple, inexpensive bead and pendant pieces or taking the time to create something I consider more interesting.
I was thinking of using vases to display earrings – the standard ones from the florist. I have a few and the earrings hang nicely.
I appreciate your thoughts!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 7:38 pm #
movie chick aka susan says:how wonderful for you Jeanne…I wish you success with your first fair
On Jun 08, 2009 at 8:42 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Vases are a very nice way to display earrings! If you have any mug holders for the kitchen, they work nicely as bracelet displays.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 8:52 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:no mug holders… and they’re not cheap enough to purchase. I do have a very homemade display I’ve used at school. Foam board covered with white felt and my dad’s heavy straight pins to hang from. My dad was an upholsterer. When I use his old supplies I feel like he’s watching over me.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 8:59 pm #
Mayan Chick - Lilly says:Congratulations, Jeanne! Wish you the best of luck. Btw, beautiful pick.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 9:00 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oh, that’s a good idea, Jeanne! Love the sentiment about your Dad, too.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 9:10 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Here’s my board and Dad’s pins.
A little amateurish, but it works.
btw – that’s LB’s pink tourmaline rondelles.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 9:11 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:oops forgot picture
On Jun 08, 2009 at 9:33 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Very nice! Like the LB stones you used.
Be sure your stuff is well secured…you don’t want it walking away with no profit for such lovely work.
On Jun 08, 2009 at 10:11 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:very good point! I may have to bend some of those pins. I’m hoping my husband will stick around part of the time. But then, I’d owe him big – time!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 11:25 pm #
Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Oohhhh…how exciting!! I’m sure you will do fine; your necklace/earring set is gorgeous; your display surface looks very serviceable. I wish you good luck!! Great pick too, BTW!
On Jun 08, 2009 at 11:33 pm #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Congratulations, Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you all the BEST and lots of SUCCESS!
Beautiful necklace, too! I like the vase idea. Where do you get the busts?
On Jun 08, 2009 at 11:37 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:oh thank you so much both of you. FMG has busts. I guess it would be good to have one just for photo.
can’t believe I’m still up. Decided to work on the multistrand flourite and… that I started ages ago.
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Jeanne, I was going to comment ages ago too, but got sidetracked on the blog…
You will do great! I love your picks, and your jewelry! The necklace set is beautiful!
I’m in there with Harriet about guarding against “walk-aways”. Esp. if it’s a big fair, I think it would be more likely. I don’t know what your $$ situation is, but Hobby Lobby has shadowboxes that could be used as display cases. Some have hinged fronts that would make a quick “pickup” a little more difficult. They have a 40% coupon this week here, and they go 50% off fairly often too.
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:28 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:I’ve seen the display busts at Michael’s for under $10 and they always have coupons in the paper and online, too.
I like to use the busts when I’m designing (after I’ve strung a necklace but before crimping) as it helps me to see better how it will hang — easier to make adjustments than while holding it around my own neck! LOL
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:30 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:If hubby can’t go with you, would your daughter or a friend be able to come along? It does help and eventually you will have to go to the restroom or get something to eat or drink!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:32 am #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Thanks, for the info about busts, Lynn Eileen. Good idea for seeing how a necklace will hang, too. Thanks!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:35 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Yes, I am an expert on busts! LOL
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:36 am #
Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:LOL
eye roll!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 12:39 am #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Love it, y’all!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 5:52 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Lori and Lynn – thanks for the info and advice.
I may look into a box for the higher end items – I have an ac moore coupon. Do you know where michael’s has the busts? I’ve never noticed them, but probably was just looking in the wrong department.
Unfortunately, there’s no way Larry will stay all day. Hopefully he’ll pop in and out. And some friends said they’ll stop by.
On Jun 09, 2009 at 6:26 am #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:I was also wondering where the busts are at Michael’s…I’ve always sent away for mine and it seemed like it took forever! To get them locally would be wonderful!
I’ve gotten good deals at http://www.nilecorp.com for display items.
On Jun 09, 2009 at 6:44 am #
Smoky Rose says:Jeanne!!!!!!!!!! Thrilled over your news! Good for you!
-I’ve never seen them at Michaels.. FMG for sure has em
On Jun 09, 2009 at 8:23 am #
D D Mystic Chick says:congrats & best of luck Gem Chick! (jewelrysupply.com has display items)
On Jun 09, 2009 at 9:24 am #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Congrats!!!!!!!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 5:24 pm #
Anita QoG Funny Chick says:YAY, Gem, way to go GIRL!!!!! I hope it’s a great success!! Don’t worry, it will be easier then you think!!!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 5:44 pm #
Wemai Coffee Chick says:Great! I think I have to do something like that during this year…….if I don’t I will have too much myself!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 7:04 pm #
Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:Wow! Congrats! I know you will be awesome! This is a great pick, and you have a wonderful sense of color & creativity. I bet that once you are all set up, your nerves will calm down. After your first sale, hopefully you will be able to relax, and enjoy yourself! This is so exciting, Jeanne!! Great Job
On Jun 09, 2009 at 7:23 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you so much! I definitely wanted the pick to come across bright and fun. I’ve used most of these beads in one piece or another. And of course – the butterfly speaks for itself!
I so appreciate everyone’s encouragement! This is a big step for me, but seemed like the next logical one.
On Jun 09, 2009 at 9:49 pm #
Fashion Chick aka SC says:Gem Chick,
I’m sure you will be quite successful!! The pictures you’ve shared show your talent! I can understand your feelings because my sister and I are doing a home show at the end of the month and I’m shaking inside already. Go for it and know that the Chicks are behind you!!
On Jun 09, 2009 at 9:58 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Good luck with you home show, Fashion Chick. I don’t know – that might freak me out even more. You have such a captive audience. How nice that you’ll have your sister beside you.
On Jun 10, 2009 at 5:44 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:RE: the busts at Michael’s. I’ve only seen black ones and they were in the jewelry department. I think they were around $8-9 each and with a coupon would be considerably less. Maybe not all the stores carry the same items. Before I saw them there, I ordered a black bust from a local store and when I went to pick it up, the lady said, “Here is your black bust.” For some reason, (perhaps because I’m white!) I got the giggles, and we both started laughing.
On Jun 10, 2009 at 5:52 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:too funny!
Hey – don’t you get any sleep?
I’m thinking of breaking down and ordering one from fmg. It’s about $10. I’d spend the difference driving to Michael’s. Plus I still need “baby blue” beads for the Ford project.
On Jun 10, 2009 at 6:08 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Yes, I do sleep! LOL — this has been one of those nights….so I figured I might as well check out the LB site and see what’s going on!
On Jun 10, 2009 at 6:11 am #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I’ve had nights like that.
I’ve got to get ready for work now – have a good day!
On Jun 10, 2009 at 6:12 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:You, too, Jeanne! Bye!
