Description from Mary S - Sweet Chick: I need your help! My Dad gave me several sheets of scrap copper this morning, Said, "Can you use this somehow?" I KNOW there must be a way to cut out and make my own "blanks" and make pendants with them. The ideas are endless...stamp them, make cut-outs with them and numerous shapes....
What tools do I need? How do I cut the copper, stamp it, punch holes for bails and cut-outs, smooth the edges, emboss it etc....? I really don't know where to start but I'm really excited about all the possibilities!!! :-D
Help me Chicks!!!!!

Chicky Bear-Tara says:I’m sorry…I have no idea except to use metal shears to cut the shapes…maybe a hammer????? Beautiful pick!

KPJEWELS says:If you check with somebody who does bodywork on cars, they might be able to tell you the best way to cut it. See if there is anything on google about tinsmithing. Just a suggestion or two. Hope you find something. Sounds interesting. BTW love this pick.

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:I think Tara’s suggestion is good. You can use a metal file to take the rough edges off, then use 0000 steel wool or an emery board for the finished edges. Can’t say I’ve worked with sheet yet, although I have a sheet of brass I keep staring at…
Very beautiful pick, BTW!

Here’s what I found

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:THANKS LADIES!
Jeanne that website is a great start! Thank you! Lots of information for cutting metal sheets and which tools to use for different gauge metals!
To the hardware store I go!!
Now, to find a book on stamping and stamping tools!

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Jeanne, that is an excellent website! Thanks for the info!
Mary, I’ve made earrings and pendants by cutting copper and silver sheet metal. It’s really easier than you might think — just a lot of steps involved — and the results are fabulous!
Let me know if you have any questions.
This is a beautiful pick, Mary! Love the colors you’ve chosen to use with copper!

Deb D Grammy Chick says:I’ve never worked with sheet metals, so I’m certainly not one to give advice, but it seems that Gem Chick has covered that quite nicely for all of us! Thanks for the info!
As for you pick, these colors are perfect with copper…can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Faithful Chick aka Faith says:This one speaks to me. I garden and still have roses growing and blooming like crazy, sprouting new growth. (10-26-09) I planted new bed blue plumbago medium, growing pink canna, pink crepe myrtle, and a row of small growing bananna scent magnolia. Maybe I’ll learn to bead next and instead of a bucket of dirt and a shovel I’ll be beading like crazy. Probably will have to sell stuff just to have enough room in my home to live. LOL!!

Faithful Chick aka Faith says:Love the beads and copper in this pick. The butterfly is straight off my plumbago and salvie out front.
