I lost contact with one of my close friends who’s mother I knew very well and did not know that her mother just died in past December. So I am regretful that I lost touch with her mother who was a very very nice person. And now its too late…

AllureofGemsGlamJulia says:Thank You, Anita and Joyce.
I understand it mentally but, then, you think how long does it take to call and just say “hello, how are you?” before it is too late…
Oh, well you are right. As my chinese friend told me long time ago: worry only about the things you can change…

J Yee smart chick says:it’s easier said than done, to let go of our regrets, especially concerning someone special like your friend’s mom. So be kind to yourself right now, okay?

Smoky Rose says:It was 12 years ago, either yesterday or today that my dad was rolled into the OR, to debulk a cancerous tumor. My mom and I walked with the gurney as far as we were allowed to – I gave him a kiss on his forehead and said ‘don’t be afraid, dad’ – I regret this more than I can say. Of all the thousands and thousands of sentences that I must have said to him – I regret that the most… Who was I to deny him fear at such a time. Me, in my cancer-free, young body…. Looking back, it seems as though it was the most arrogant thing in the world. Of course, that’s not how I meant it. If I could have a re-do, I’d say, it’s ok to be scared, it’s ok to feel weak, but we’ll be there, beside, to help you. Forgive me, Dad – (up in heaven now), you were allowed to be afraid.

Classy Chick JbyJill says:Mary, your comment brought tears to my eyes….I’m sure your dad knew what you meant. And you know…he needn’t fear, God was with him and comforting him. I’m sure he is looking down at you know and saying, “Fear not, for now I am with God”.

Smoky Rose says:now you’re going to make me cry.
I’m sorry – I didn’t mean to upset you.
I can’t believe I told that story – it was on my mind, being the anniversary of his surgery, but never had a clue I’d be telling the story – and then I saw your pick and comment and it was weirdly, like it was meant to be. He survived the surgery and another 14 months after that. It was not until after he passed that I thought of that day – and remembered what I said, and felt badly about it. Thank you so much for your words!
