Lori L says:I am starting to use a lot of copper as well doing etchings on base metals. My bead store recommended using Sally Henson’s clear nailpolish to prevent turning. It’s the one in the silver bottle- I think its called Diamond strong or something along those lines. I have not tried a spray but I’ve heard clear acrylic spray paint would work- I’ve not tested it out though. You can bring copper to a shine with steel wool and then paint on the acrylic nailpolish. Just be careful not to have a fan on- I learned the hard way on that one!

I also love the patina copper takes on as it ages! If you want it to stay shiny, though, either buy coated or coat it with clear nail polish or spray acrylic. I’ve had success with both.
