“Easter Sunday”

Description from Granny Nancy: From the time I was a little girl (8)I thought of Easter as sacred but also a time of lovely hats, yellow flowers, purple (forget why) and the cross of course. All the finery and flowers, etc. were in honor of a risen Christ. The chicks were a symbol of new life.

This pick is adorable and reminded me of my childhood Easters also. This pick in so many ways looks like a dress I omce wore. It was a white dress with large bright flowers printed all around the bottom of the full skirt. And a matching hat of course.

He is risen indeed, Granny. He gives me reason to keep on keepin’ on!
    LOVE THE COLORS YOU CHOSE!
Oh how your pick brought back memories to me as well. Except (I’m ashamed to admit this), I hated dresses as I was a ‘tomboy’. So every Easter pic taken of me and my two older sisters (all decked out in Easter attire with matching gloves and little purses) has me pouting in it. What a brat I was. My poor (late) Mom…the things she tolerated – LOL

Very pretty Nancy. I too associate purple and lavendar with Easter.
From my art classes: Historically, purple was a VERY difficult color to create in paints. The Egyptians, the Medieval artists, and up through the Renaissance painters had difficulty creating purple and having it maintain its rich hue once painted. Therefore, it became the color of royalty. And Who is more royal and more deserving than Christ? :) I think that’s why so many Medieval and Renaissance artists used purples when painting religious scenes.
