Judiahaha says:I think it’s about to, Mary, although, sadly, when compared to the migrations witnessed of my childhood, the migrations today are fewer in number, just like the birds. There’s fewer places for the birds to rest along the Atlantic Flyway. This brought back memories of those birds in formation that went on and on. Anyone else remember?

I’ve never witnessed a large migration that you speak of. We do however get to see the Sandhill Cranes flying in small groups in Fall and Spring. I love to hear their call as they fly over. It’s so beautiful.
They are getting less and less as well…..

Now I live near some very large silica sand pits where water is pumped in and out of all winter so they never freeze. so geese spend the winter here in stead of going south. Ten or so years back, there would be thousands. At night they would do a fly by. Such a sight! Now, alas, there are may be a couple hundred or so. What humans in their ignorance have done to this beautiful planet Earth!
