Description from Elis Mom: An ancient practice, firewalking is considered a wonderful example of the mind-body connection at work and a means of demonstrating that we do have control over the process. Firewalking has apparently been practiced for centuries by shamans, priests and ordinary folk as a religious ritual and as a healing ceremony. There is a group in South Florida that organizes spiritual firewalks. Anyone care to join me?

puppychick labratbecky says:First thought: ARE YOU NUTS?? Second thought: Sure, if I can get out of a lot of work while my burned feet heal!!
Third thought: I love this pick!!!

Stone Treasures says:Wow! Great pick! Would like to see this one day, not too sure yet about doing it!

Luna Chick aka Coral says:Wow! What a fantastic pick. You captured it perfectly. That sounds so amazingly cool. Are you really going to do it? If so please tell us about it. I love the idea of doing it but am not sure I could bring myself to do it,

puppychick labratbecky says:I know what Coral means. I would like to try it but I am afraid I would fail. That AFRAID word is the key.

Elis Mom says:A typical event is meant to promote healing, transformation, and breakthough. There are motivational speakers to teach you to overcome negative thought and build positive energy. There are drums, chanting, and exercises that lead up to the walk, such as board breaking, arrow splitting, rod bending, and the building and stoking of the fire to produce the coals. The last exercise is the walk. All are optional, and just being there is supposed to be life changing. I have considered trying it for a while, but people tell me I’m nuts. It’s no different than parachuting, really. The key is the wood and the speed of your walk.

Luna Chick aka Coral says:I don’t think it sounds nuts. I think it sounds amazing!! You should do it.
On May 17, 2012 at 2:45 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:and then go parachuting with me because that’s the one I have always wanted to do.
On May 17, 2012 at 3:31 pm #
OK Jacki says:Beautiful pick. I would prob go for parachuting, girls, but firewalking is prob not in my future…although I think back about how amazed i was when I practiced lamaze breathing to overcome pain during labor . You CAN do more with your mind than you ever dreamed possible.

Elis Mom says:I think after firewalking and skydiving, we should go whitewater rafting!
On May 17, 2012 at 6:52 pm #
puppychick labratbecky says:I’m in!
On May 17, 2012 at 11:03 pm #
Elis Mom says:Me too! I forgot to mention walking on glass as an exercise leading up to the firewalk. Broken glass falls with the curved sides up, meaning no sharp edges! If you are deliberate in the placement of your feet, you won’t get cut!

N radon says:Uh-huh. I would rather leap out of a plane. But I think just a really looong, curvy slide is my speed. (‘course paragliding would be cool!) Love the Agate inyour pick.
On May 18, 2012 at 3:53 pm #
Elis Mom says:I think I’m gonna have to get some of the agate….Isn’t it funny the things each one of us won’t do? A friend is going parasailing today…500 feet up in the air, towed by a speed boat. Water is harder than concrete when you fall from that height. I’ll pass!
