“Fishing on the Lake”

Description from Deco Chick Elaine: Grandma and Grandpa would hitch up the boat and we went to the lake in the early morning. We used the minnows we had caught in the river to catch walleye, perch, bass, and other lake fish. In the late afternoon, we headed back toward the lighthouse, up on the sandy beach. Back at home, those fish made a very tasty supper :>)

Elaine, my first thought when I saw this pick was “Oh, Oh!” as the red pepper alcohol obviously signified blood… glad it was of the fishy type.
Freshly caught and eaten pan fish are just the best, aren’t they? We have what my husband calls “The Breakfast Cruise” when we are back in Bemidji. Just at sunrise, those hardy (and interested) enough set out in our pontoon boat to catch those elusive scaly critters. Often the fish is cleaned, cooked and eaten right on the boat, along with hash browned potatoes and strong coffee. Delish!

I attached the red to the paint on the boat. :) Which lake has a lighthouse? It almost has to be one of the Great Lakes (?) I love your series. It brings back memories, some of things I am glad are over with such as my dad dragging us kids out, 2 at a time, to fish when it was windy and rainy and cold. And memories of the lakes he chose that were sometimes so weedy it poked up out of the water. (eewwww) I am glad we did it but also relieved it is over and I am warm and dry. :)

Yep, Lake Erie – we live about 30-35 miles southwest of the western end of the lake. We put the boat in around Port Clinton.

Just read all the comments again – actually, the red bottle represents the lighthouse, lol :>) It was the closest thing I could find….
