“God is Color Blind...”

Description from Mommykat Bubbly Chick: I have a neighbor who is offended because one of my foster children is African American. I told her God didn't mind, so neither should she. She said God isn't colorblind.... But I think she is wrong! I dont think God sees colors when he looks at his children.

    8O :| Offended!!!!!
    (&&*$!@@^*&*))!!!!
I’m sorry but things like that REALLY get me riled up! I’m so dumb founded I don’t know what say.
So what is she saying? God didn’t create that beautiful child too? OOOOOOOOO! It’s a very good thing I don’t live anywhere near her…….
    Ok, I gotta’ go pray……
    Lord calm me down……..

You are such a wonderful person, I don’t understand how people have such prejudices. God is all colors. Remember the Christmas song “Some Children See Him” We should pray for her, something in her life has turned her, or she was never taught love. You have to be taught to hate, children play with each other and never notice differences until they are older and they hear it around the home. Such a pity. If not for you and people like you, the world would be in a bigger mess than it already is. Besides, how do we know that the stranger we meet isn’t God? Bless you for all you do.

Thank God people like your neighbor are becoming fewer and fewer. Maybe someday…….. I say everyone should marry interacially and we would be so mixed up there would only be one race – the human race!

Excuse me for getting on my soapbox but sometimes I just don’t understand people. I’m sorry if I offended any of you good people. However, good people don’t think that way do they???

Prejudice in older people is prevelent here in the South. But the younger ones take people accept them for who they are instead of what color they are. We have all kinds of “mixed” (not meant to be offensive) children in our town because of the Air Force Base. I think that makes our children the most beautiful! Of course, now I am being prejudice!

OK this is a little gross, but I have always said that when you take our skin of we all look the same. Praying is really the only answer because God is the only one who can change people.

Color should never matter but for some it has realy got stucked in their brain that color matter….
Second even if it sounds hard, and it is ABSOLUTLY NOT in defence of the neighbor. All persons are a prejudist at something. But more or less aware of it. What I think is important; is to have a listening heart and be able to qritical thinking. As a studentin International Communication and Ethnic Relations this subject just make me…

    KittyMom Linda says:

You are not a bad Christian, you are a Human Christian – big difference.

  17. Bella Chick aka Chill
Bella Chick aka C Hill says:

Oh, please know that true Christians would NEVER carry that prejudice in their hearts or in their words…it is GOD who created EVERY precious person! Jesus teaches us to LOVE one another! God mad us different colors because they are so special and we need to see each other by one’s heart and never one’s skin! God compels us to pray for the truly blind..that your neighbor will be prayed for…that she will become color-blind thru HIS sight…as I will pray for you and your family…praying God’s blessings will be immeasurable!

I can’t believe some people feel that way!!! I wish I had payed more attention in science class when the students were giving their presentations (OOPS!). Anyway, one boy was talking about how little our genes differ!!! I wish I’d payed attention because I could explain it a lot better. But yeah…I think you know what I mean ;) God doesn’t care about the color of our skin, we are all made uniquely and are loved bunches by Him! :D

    Purple Chick aka Violet says:

I am sorry you had to deal with such a narrow minded neighbor…. and no, Lorrie, you are not a bad Christian… you can be glad she is moving and do a happy dance…. but we can all still pray for her that she will change, so she will not make others as unhappy as she made you…..
Lorrie ,you are wonderful to care for your children the way you do…. you are a good person with a kind heart !!!!!!

And then there are the reasons you just wish you had that Acme ray gun like Marvin the Martian to eliminate certain people. ya know what I mean. some people really do just suck. sorry to hear about the stupid nieghbor, my poor Aunt has one too, just pretend they don’t exist.

    Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:

Thanks, again everyone! I tried to show her how wonderful my children are; last year at Christmas we went around Carroling, and they closed the door in our face, so I am glad they will be gone.

  22. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

Christian or non-christian, it is about love, it is about empathy, it is about “being colorblind is not always a bad thing” ;) this is about respect, of humans, life and all that live on the earth, this is about reaching out a hand´, open your eyes and see!!! It seems to me that we human tends to look/try to find the differeces between us and forget what is alike/equal, and that can be applied on manny things, race, religion, gender……………
Lorrie you are a good person I belive and I would belive even you were not christian. (Me no christian ;) )

  23. Mommykat Bubbly Chick
    Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:

Thank you Frida. I would truely prefer to be judged by how I lived, and whom I helped rather than by what church I attend.
BTW, with my special needs children, we often cant get to church, and have our own prayer right here at home.

  24. Happy Chick aka Harriet
    Happy Chick aka Harriet says:

    Bravo Lorrie!!!
You did try to help her see, and you did show your kids that is not the way to think or behave. We cannot dictate how others think, but we can set a good and loving example. I don’t mind if you do a happy dance. :D
We can be glad she is taking her hate filled attitude somewhere else, and still pray she will see the light…and the rainbow!

  25. Crazy Chick Frida
    Crazy Chick Frida says:

    Dear Lorrie, respect for u!

Iam brought up in a free-church way (are you using that word?) Butt I personaly suffered and went my own way and belive me it has been a battle with guilt with being labeld as a sinner etc. However I respect my parents choice to ‘stay’. Being Good acording to me is not about religion, it can be a part of it, in the end it is up to each individual…

Have also notised both when travelling in USA and here on LB that americans ;) talks much bout God, in Swe it is uncommon…. :)
    Hugs

haha Lorrie, that is great news and ironic indeed. This proves that people are so stupid… Your neighbors sure aren’t offended now, to sell their house to African Americans. Principles easy set aside for one color: green! I really dislike racist people. You are so kind Lorrie, I admire you for what you do!

    Faithful Chick aka Faith says:

I came from a rather predjudice little minded burg in Ohio. Took years before any mixed races came to live there. Never stated just known. I remember a little childs hymn God loves all the little children yellow, red, black, or white. I grew up with that value stuck with me all my life. I used to say I did not care if my daughter or son dated or married anyone even if they were hot pink with purple polka dots and lime green stripes; as long as they loved each other and were kind to one another and did not hurt one another physically or mentally. One boyfriend I dated broke up with me because I made that statement to him once.
People are people beautiful, good, ugly, and bad. It is what is inside that counts.

Lorrie I think it is ok for you to do the happy dance. Your neighbor may never be enlightened nor happy. A lot of people predjudice about race are also predjudice against special needs people, and a lot of other things we can add to the list. Had she stayed she could have done far more hurtful things to your children mentally. I am happy for you that she moved. I hope no matter what color, or nationality your new neighbors are that they are just good people. One of our best neighbors went to prison for beating a man nearly to death. Found out later the man tried to sell drugs to his child and threatened his family. Not to say what he did was right, he put the man in a wheel chair. That man is still our neighbor I think and lives on the end where the cops make regular drug checks. I don’t care where you live this can be going on in the best most expensive neignborhoods today and does. I was never a flower child. My old boyfriend laughed one day and said you are predjudice against people who are predjudice. Never looked at it that way until he said it. LOL

  34. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

WOW! The hornet’s nest really got stirred up on this one. Obviously your soon to be (hopefully) neighbor has lived a very cloistered life. She really needs to get out into the real world.

During all of the years I was teaching I was always blessed with my own little UN. Our school was near a state college and I frequently had children who had one or both parents enrolled there. One year I had a class of 14 and in that group I had 7 children who were from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. If they had all been painted purple they would have still been children. This was nearly 20 years ago.

I grew up on the Buckle of the Baptist Bible Belt in a totally WASP town with a lot of prejudice all around. It didn’t take me too long after college to realize People are People, Children are Children and win, loose or draw we are all here together so we might just as well get along. (Soapbox is now removed).

  35. Mommykat Bubbly Chick
    Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:

Thanks Faith! I hope our former neighbors will be happy where ever they wind up…. I am honestly wishing them good luck, and relieved they will be having that luck elsewhere!

  36. KPJEWELS
    KPJEWELS says:

Sorry to hear about your neighbour problem, Lorrie. Maybe God seen fit to change neighbours for you. You are such a good person I can’t imagine that he didn’t have a hand in it. We shall all pray for your old neighbours. I know what it’s like to have someone around that is prejudiced. My ex is like that.

My daughter brought an African American friend home when she was a teenager and her father near blew a gasket. I have had African American friends since I was 3-years old so it doesn’t bother me about the colour of someone’s skin. Like everyone says, it’s what’s inside that counts.

Don’t let this get to you, Lorrie because you have a heart of gold. HUGS
