“Grannys Blue Gown”

Description from Granny Nancy: This one was really difficult because I had a cobalt blue velvet gown in mind but ended up with this navy blue slinky satin job. Its straight all the way down but with a slit up to... well, wherever you want it slit to. Oh almost forgot, there are navy (blue montana)sequins sewn on a tastefully low rounded neckline.

This sexy number has long sleeves. The model is wearing long crystal earrings but very tasteful and elegant since the dress is so smashing if I do say so myself.

The rest of the clear beads are just for the backgroud. The navy pearls are at an angle because as I picture this dress in Vogue magazine, the model is on one of those bedroom chaise couches - its off white velvet - and the model is lying there in such a position to show off the gown at every angle... tastefully, of course.

Well puppychick, when I was a young girl mesmerized by the glamorous movies by MGM in those days, I used to design gowns for something to do. I lead a very quiet life and lived in the country and not a lot to do so when I wasn’t doing chores or homework, I drew. I wish I’d saved my work. A few things I did for art class got lost in one of our moves.

I’m short and fat and I hate the clothes that are out there – nothing for somebody like me. I have had 2 back surgeries and have neuropathy so I can’t get rid of my fat. But I could look better with the right clothes but I cannot sew to save my soul. I never designed jewelry until I saw how a friend did it so I tried it. But I’ve not had time to concentrate on making anything. Virtual dress designing on the other hand is so much easier.

And thank you all for the compliments – I’m merely doing something fun! I envy you who do some of the very intricate bead weaving. My fingers don’t cooperate. I design with color. I’ve made somethings I’m very proud of but have given them all away except for a couple a sold or kept for myself.

Seamstress or not, you craft a lovely picture with words. I never noticed how pretty the navy pearls were before you featured them!
