Happy Chick aka Harriet says:A lovely Pick to commemorate a sweet memory.
Wish I could grow peonies here, but our climate is just not right for them. I don’t think I will try again. Much better just to see your pretty Pick. At least it won’t turn brown from West Texas heat. LOL

K H says:Great pick!!!! Mom has peonies and iris of all kinds in her yard. The fellow who built her house (years ago) was a WW1 vet. His goal was to have enough fresh flowers on Memorial Day to decorate the grave of every vet at the local cemetery.

Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Jacki, I love your pick! Peonies (I say pee-OH-nees, which my hubby says is wrong!) are wonderful flowers, and my favorites are the pale pink ones.
KH, I would love your mom’s yard! My mom had a similar goal with her flowers, though not a yard full! We always took peonies to the cemetery too. I love peonies and iris together, and tried to do that at my house. Some lived, most didn’t make it.
Between deer, gophers and wet weather, only the hardiest and luckiest survive!

OK Jacki says:In Okie land we love our Pee-OH-nees – and anyone who says it otherwise is a sissy. lol And the standard yard in memories is Peonies, Iris & ‘old roses’ that are all ready by ‘Decoration Day’ (that would be Memorial Day). I’ve managed to keep a start of each from Gran’s in every house I’ve lived. Lv it.

Faithful Chick aka Faith says:Oh peonies and lilacs are two of the flowers I really miss here in Florida. I tried last summer with 2 bushes of peonies, however I think my husband sprayed them with the weed killer. I(ah ha) don’t think he will ever admit to it. I live in zone 9. The town just north a hair and west is 13 miles from us and is in zone 8. I guess it has to start somewhere. Darn. Oh the scent of peonies is heavenly and so are lilacs.

Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:I feel the same way you do about the ruby impression jasper – and they look divine next to those gorgeous peridot drops!!

Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:oh, this is wonderful! is the ruby impression as pretty in person? Love it w/ the white keishi pearls!
On Feb 15, 2010 at 11:03 am #
OK Jacki says:The ruby impression is even more awesome when you see it ‘in person’. There is so much depth to the color – ranging from pale pink/lavender in a few to that deep, deep fuscia and almost burgundy. Can’t say that I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. Most veins are somewhat tan in color.
