“Heat Index, 105 degrees or..”

Description from puppychick labratbecky: Hotter than snot! I participated in a 200 mile relay race Friday and yesterday and it was so hot, there were more than the usual heat exhaustion victims. Nobody died but quite a few needed IV's. It was a blast but I am wiped out! :)

I’m just crazy :) but so were 450 other teams, mostly of 12 people each. There were some 6 person teams and there was one 3 person team. That works out to 66 miles each for those 3. I ran only 13.1 miles total (broken up into 3 legs). Check out if any of you are runners. Thanks for the love!!

I want to say you both are close but not really. :) I live in MN. The relay was from Madison, WI to Chicago. The temp was in the 90′s with very high humidity and all day sun. Midwesterners have horrible heat waves because all that corn we have growing around us is constantly exhaling tons of water and our dew points in summer hover in the 60′s with some 70′s thrown in for good measure. OK, when we lived there, was hotter but much drier. I am doing another relay in August from Winona, MN to Minneapolis along the mighty Mississippi. It is much hillier and we expect the same kind of beastly heat. That one is even tougher!

Good grief — I knew you live in MN, Becky — guess I’ll blame it on a “senior moment”!!! LOL 8O I’m in Kokomo, IN, 1 hour North of Indianapolis, so I definitely understand the weather in the Midwest — Yikes!

BTW, I’m pleased that Elaine & I at least remembered that you live in the continental United States….. ;)
