   thanks, Donna, it is indeed very sad when we forget our mission. You guys would be appalled at the news her in MN. A huge hospital group here is being investigated by our attorney general for harassing patients for payment before they will admit them to the ER.

   This is spot on…but really really twisted. LOL Seriously, it is not a laughing matter, but unfortunately, its likely to get worse before (if) it gets better. I appreciate all the hospital staff members, who are generally over-worked & underpaid. Kind of like our teachers in America. Where are our priorities???

   Sorry about the skulls. I was trying to convey how depressing it is to end up just being a medical record number or a room number or a body part unstead of a person. I work in the hospital lab as a microbiologist. I love my work and being able to help patients but the crap we have to put up with is apalling. And I have been on the patient end of it a few times and had unbelievably bad service. I think it all boils down to greed which we can’t ever legislate away…..

   I had to laugh at your pick! It’s great! I work for a very large Oncology group, probably the largest in the country right now. I just got back from an operations meeting, and the focus was $$$. I know we’re a business, but there has to be balance between $$ and not forgetting who we are serving and why.

   OK. Off my soapbox.

    Well, I am certainly glad I am back to inject a bit of levity into you all!!! I shall not go into the inaccuracies with my meds and daily care plans. Fortunately, I was coherent and kept track every moment as to what I was supposed to be taking, when and why; what about the patients who are not quite so coherent? I always checked every pill that was offered to me before taking it and questioned anything I didn’t recognise. This is so wrong for patient care. The professionals should be professional; the patient should not need to responsible for her care.
    Needless to say, this pick made me laugh, as yours most often do, Becky! Be well and take care… and I do love soapboxes, having stood on a few in the past and expect to do so again some day!

    Great pick but a sad commentary on the state of things in the world right now. I was just in the ER a couple of weeks ago, and I was lucky I had a great nurse. She actually tried to explain everything she was doing and why, but I already knew the drill – I’ve unfortunately spent too much time in hospitals over the last three years – and have many horror stories as well.
