OK Jacki says:MaryLou, i cheat on my annual beds by putting out pansies in the Fall. They hang on thru out the winter (sometimes looking pretty pathetic)… But they always start coming on in the spring along w the tulips & jonquils. Other annuals usually hv to wait until Mid May. If i am planting perennials usually do that in either Fall or early spring so they can get set before the beastly heat..which usually arrives the first wk of June. I love the 4 seasons but we seem to hv extremes on both end of the spectrum.
