Jill, Southern Chick Donna just informed us that Mary “Smoky Rose” just passed away due to cancer, such very sad news indeed -
Lynn, I too do remember when you and Mary both were so excited by my comment about having a strand of soochow jade leaf beads that I thought was way too dark brown in color, and would either of you like to have them – and likewise, I remember how much she loved smoky quartz, and made many Picks combining smoky quartz with so many other types of beads successfully.

Mary would have loved this pick. I got the honor of knowing Mary much better when I got on Facebook not long ago. We shared some really fun times playing Farmville. I never really knew she was ill. She never complained. She was a true joy to know. I think we all should share how much our friendship means even if it is in this virtual world of computers. Hugs to you all my friends.

I was too distraught to comment earlier in the week, but took comfort in reading everyone else’s comments. I had the pleasure of meeting Mary in PA. We met a few times for breaksfast or lunch. I’ll always remember our first 2 hour breakfast at Mike’s Diner. We hit it off immediately like we were old friends catching up. I’d contact Mary whenever I visited my friends who live near her. There will always be a void in my heart whenever I visit that part of PA.

I remember getting to know her so long ago when all of “Chickdom” first began. It saddens me and leaves an empty space in my heart although I know she is far, far happier in the life she lives now. She is a kindred spirit. We shared so many similarities…. both rock hounds, animal lovers, the same Faith and of course the same name.
