Description from Cuban Queen Crazy Chick: So I got a strand of the big variscite nuggets in my last order and I'm not sure which direction I want to go with them. I was thinking of pairing them with amethyst and accenting it with white or black stones, or pairing them with white stones, accenting them with black or purple, or just sticking with one color and no accent....or maybe rock crystal instead? I know, I sound crazy, I'm just trying to figure out the best combination for this necklace. Any suggestions, chicks? :)

Lovely, I think it will become great in all examples you have gived, but as a fan of contrast I must say both purple n black ;)

I’m thinking paired with amethyst (love that contrast!)- accented with….

Well I love those stones I wouldn’t go purple but that’s me i would stick with your lighter colors to blend…maybe I’m not adventursome enough!..I can’t wait to see what you came up with…

    Beautiful pick!
Ivy, do you want a statement or a spa effect? :) :)

For a statement : The Thunder egg agate faceted nuggets would go well as they also have among rusts and browns, similar greens. Purples will go , but not too drk as they will over take the color.

I’ll throw my vote for amethyst with white accent. Black may be too stark with variscite. If you want something dark, the smoky quartz suggestion or amber in caramel tones that bring out the darker matrix in the variscite.

Oh, my, all the choices sound delightful to me — it probably will depend upon the look/mood you are going for, Ivy! I would lay out a few of each color with the Variscite and just see what “speaks” to you. Hope that helps!

    Love your pick, BTW! :D

Thank you guys for all the great suggestions!! Amber is sounding good to me, as well as white, like pearls maybe. I do think black would be too stark of a contrast (although I love high-contrast jewelry) for the pale green of variscite. Smoky quartz would work really well too…. I’m just gonna go with what Lynn said and try them all out and see what speaks to me. That always works. Thank you for the ideas, chicks!! :D

    Ivy – another thought -
czech glass – I have a clear pale greenish aqua that would be stunning with this – add a bit of sparkle. They tend to mimic what they’re next to.

Jeanne, that would be gorgeous! I just did a similar color concept using faceted clearish pink glass beads with peach jade stones. Love how the colors flow together. I do have some pale green fluorite that I’ve been thinking about using in this design, too. Thanks for another great suggestion! :D

I thought about flourite too. I recently used those czech with flourite and last night paired it with aquamarine (multi) It’s so versatile!
    You’re so welcome Ivy!

    hi cuban queen:

I’m also cuban and I live in sunny miami, florida. love all your color combinations.
love beading but what I do is different from the designs I see in these pages. I belong to the yoruba religion and I do a lot of african beading on my designs.
    keep in touch.
