Will you please stop rubbing it in!

Seriously, I’m happy for you! I finished my supply order. Amazing how little you can get with $150.

Love your pick – my favorite oranges (and I’m not usually a fan) The dark citrine rondelles go beautifully with the India red aventurine and the madagascar carnelian.

Jean, I just realized that this is the first year, I haven’t had to do a supply list. We have an open supply room that stays open at all times and it is usually fully stocked with all sorts of teacherly stuff. And you are so right about the meager supply budget! We are having severe job cuts…I may be next..I don’t have tenure here. Had it in Va. but this is my 1st year here at this school

you can’t imagine (yes you can)
My little friend from earlier in the week has been on his best behavior – Wow was that really only Monday. After the principal spoke to his mom, the dad told him that he won’t hit him any more if he’s bad in school, he’ll just send him back to his country.
    some people shouldn’t have kids.

    KPJEWELS says:

Egad, what a life that poor kid is having. I had a sister like that. Her son was treated very badly by his step-father until I took him into my home at age 14.

What country would he be sent back to? I shutter to think…

oh – how sweet! and how lucky he is to have you!

Even if the child did tell the other kids he was going to kill me and my assistant, I still have a soft spot for him. he’s only 6 and can’t help it if his father is an idiot and lets him watch all sorts of inappropriate stuff on tv

Its so hard to not just “rescue” them and bring them home with you, isn’t it? I agree that nephew is lucky to have you take care of him…

Donna – good luck with your position. I’ve been there before. and you know tenure means nothing if they cut positions. many years ago, after 7 years in the district, they cut positions and I was “excessed” (do they use that term there) I subbed for a year and was headed to NC when they recalled me. So her I am still.

Great sunny pick to celebrate, Southern Chick! And what a way to end the year, wondering if you’ll have a job next fall. I hope all turns out well for you.

Just caught the conversation about the little boy. How horribly sad. 3K, your nephew is lucky to have you, and hopefully this little boy will have an angel for him, too. It is too bad that his $pe^m donor can’t be taught a lesson in parenting.

    Congratulations, Donna, on being DONE!!!!!!

No one at our school is moving. The economy is not bad in Texas, but people get nervous. A lot of teachers from UP NORTH are coming down here looking for jobs, but everyone is STAYING PUT. Just too nervous to make a move and end up with nothing. I’m getting ready to start my 12th year at my school.

Love the colors in your pick. Yellows and oranges always strike me as cheerful.

Glad you school year is winding down. Lovely pick to celebrate! :-)

I don’t think anyone who has not taught (or even substituted) in the last few years has any idea what teachers deal with on a daily basis. Blessings on you all, my dear ones.
