Description from Laud: Love the colors in this bead, but what does "Kalera" means? Why are rectangular beads called kaleras?

First of all, I love your pick, Laud. Did a similar one earlier this week, but I particularly like the enamel beads you chose. Tried to find a definition of “kalera” but the closest I could find is that is means something similar to “main street” in the Basque language. Does anyone else know why it’s used for rectangular beads ???

Love this happy pic! Thought Kalera might be the name of a company that makes a glass shaping press.

Fabulous pick!!! Love the color palate. I didn’t find anything different than Crazy Beader as to why they are called Karelas. Looks like we found the same info. The search continues… :)
