Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Good Mornin’ Smoky Chick! How’s the new day treating you? Are we laughing yet? Remember, today is our designated giggle day!
This pick is great – I think African Turq is one of the ‘friendliest’ stones! It plays well with others! The Champagne Pearls and Green Fluorite really dress it up – And Amethyst; who knew?! I think you feel ‘hungry’ for NM the way I do for southern Louisiana sometimes – like there’s something inside that just pulls you in that direction…Or maybe that’s just me!

Smoky Rose says:‘Morning Shannon!
The day is treating me quite well, thank you – except I must grab a bite. How is it treating you?
I’m giggling! I’m smiling – you too?!
Yeah – that’s it – it pulls me, it draws me. the sun, the food, the beauty, the memories. What’s passionate about LA for you?
Ivy got me rolling with the green fluorite and turq a couple weeks ago – I must give credit where credit is due.

Smoky Rose says:Thanks Kitty! – and Right Back at’cha with Tea Roses!
I love pink & green together!
I had a dress when I was little, white, tiny pink & tiny green rosebuds on it – I can see it so clearly. This reminds me of that! Thanks for the smile!!

Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Smoky – There’s a broodiness about LA that matches my temprament – a sort of sadness that is calming (that sounds so odd)! The people are full of life no matter their circumstances – the natural environment is lush and full of surprises (aligators, snakes, etc.. The history and architecture…I could go on, but I won’t!!! NM is also a place I love – went there when I was 18 to check out UNM…Loved the scenery and the food (Green Chili!!). Mission style is very ‘me’ – casual and tactile (textiles and pottery!!) Sorry…didn’t mean to go on…:^

Michelle Downy Chick says:Mary I love this! Very enchanting!
On Apr 24, 2009 at 2:21 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Thank you Nicole & Michelle!
Green! I was at a New Mexican restaurant last weekend at the shore – funny, most folks don’t know there is such a thing. So nice to hear ‘red or green’ again! Yes, the food is wonderful – sopapilla, green chili stew…I crave that stuff. Never been to Louisiana – but always wanted to go – the art, the architechture – the etouffee!
I get the broodiness – doesn’t sound odd to me. I love Bruce Springsteen – ever since high school. His song Secret Garden (from …. Susan, where ya’at? Jerry McGuire) feeds my broodiness. I’ve joked that if you’re not depressed, you’ll get depressed. if you are, it’ll bring you to your knees. So, naturally, I ought to stay far away – but every so often, I kinda need to hear it and feel ….the broodiness.

Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Smoky – As they say here in Memphis, “I’m feelin’ ya”! There’s just something about Spanish Moss that’s so wistful – I can’t get enough of that melancholy stuff!! Same goes for those endless vistas in NM with the buttes and the painted sunsets!!! I can be packed in an hour, how about you?!
On Apr 24, 2009 at 3:59 pm #
Smoky Rose says:give me two hours – almost all my warm weather clothes are still packed away!

Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Have you been to Albaquerque? I enjoyed it there – a university town, so much going on all the time! But it’s the geographic and architectual aspects I like the best! Went horseback riding(what other part of the horse would you ride on, exactly?) at the base of the Sandias (is that right?) – one of my favorite memories! I love your ongoing Land of Enchantment series – it takes me there! Like little chick’s globe trotting series!

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Very pretty, Mary Smoky Chick!
On Apr 24, 2009 at 7:44 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Thanks Elaine!
Yes, Shannon – several times. My home away from home. Sandias is right – magical color changing mountains. Sandias to the E, volcanos to the W. I have two Abq pictures here on my desk – the photos just never do justice to that Azure sky – but they’re still great reminders. I’ll get back out there one of these days.
