Description from Px3 aka Peggy: Another trip down memory lane: My Aunts' sister-in-law baked limeade pies that were to die for! Lemonade pies too. They were translucent in color, just like the limeade itself, with Meringue piled high and a crust that would melt in your mouth. I have never been able to find a recipe anything like this! Has anyone ever seen a recipe like this?

Eeka Mouse says:Mouth-watering Pick; I Googled ‘Recipe Limeade Pie’ and got several recipes; you should check them out & see if any of them sounds like what your relative made…

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:SLURP!! A luscious pick for a wonderful memory!
I “Binged” Limeade pie and also found several recipes. All had cream in the recipe so they may not be translucent. I’m really curious to find one like your relative made.

Px3 aka Peggy says:I know there was no cream or eggs in the recipe. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a depression era recipe.
I have looked for years for a recipe like it. That and her frosting for Angel food cake. It had a firm exterior, but was creamy and delicious inside, almost like marshmallow cream. I know it was a cooked frosting. As a kid I never thought to ask for recipes. Drat!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Hmmmm…depression era? I wonder if it was a simple mixture of lime or lemon juice, sugar and cornstarch. Slowly heated to make a “pudding” or filling and then poured into the crust? Kind of like making a glaze filling for fresh strawberry pie.
I can probably find several recipe options for the frosting if you like. I wonder if it was a 7 minute frosting? I remember a similar “marshmallow cream” textured frosting that was used as a filling in a rolled cake. Like a jelly roll cake. You’ve got me curious now Peggy!

Px3 aka Peggy says:Mary, you are good!! Knowing Aunt Dora, that sounds right. She was a frugal person. Thanks!!!
As for the frosting, the 7 minute is the closest I have found.
