Description from Science Chick Runs Sibes: Needing something to keep me at my computer but not totally engrossing (I have to check for sub-teaching positions), I was inspired while wandering through today's Xword clue to "paint" a picture of what our weather has been. When good weather hits in the winter it is accompanied by The Inversion (euphemistically referred to as fog but truly SMOG). Up at home on the bench we can be in full sun. But the valley is wrapped in dense, caustic "fog." As I drive down, the bright sun dims until it disappears. If the "good" weather holds, the inversion height increases and we are enveloped on the bench. If you check left to right in my pick, you will find a storm looming. THAT is my silver-lining--more bad weather arriving, but it will chase away this nasty, eye-burning, sinus and throat irritating "fog."

Beadlady3 aka Cindy says:Eye-catching pick. And I love your story! I always like to read what inspires a pick. I almost wish a description was “mandatory”!

Science Chick Runs Sibes says:Thanks, Cindy. I too love to read the descriptions. Yesterday, I subbed for a favorite Lang. Arts teacher. The students had to turn a “3 Wishes” essay into a cartoon strip. They LOVED it (didn’t realize it was part of their learning ITech). I loved it too as it introduced me to some GREAT websites AND fit in with my tendency to try to create jewelry to depict a theme or paint a picture of something I’d read.

Just caught the noon headlines–we’re under a 2-day winter storm warning. Also, looked out the window and the “fog” is gone from the valley.

Science Chick Runs Sibes says:Thanks one and all. AH, the air’s cleared, the temperature is back up (from subzero-F), and the world is white with just a bit of pine tree showing its green.
The storm hit just as I was going to a late afternoon tutoring lesson (dyslexic boy). It came in like a blizzard–dropped about 3-4 inches in our valley (the mountains are getting up to 2 ft. Now we’re getting light snow showers that continue off and on (until tomorrow).
