    Well, first was a food journal. I do that online…www.fitday.com this tracks my calories for me for anything I eat. I am also still able to do sit ups, rowing exercises, and our local Ymca has a stitting type bike/walker that is great for bad knees & feet.

    Also, I am eating more food now! Because I was always so rushed, I sometimes skipped meals. But then my body thought I was starving it, and held onto the fat. So eating the right # of calories each day also helped me.

    I don’t want the surgery. I thought I did until I found out you can’t even go to the dentist (for almost 2 years) without them pumping you full of antibiotics. I don’t have anything against antibiotics; I’m just allergic to all the ones I’ve tried. The only thing I can take for the pain is Tylanol.

    I admire you a lot, Bubbly! Great job! I do exercise-just mostly upper body. Lowered my fasting blood sugar from 117 to 92, too. I feel good about that.

    Poor Debra and the knees and the antibiotics! That’s awful. I have to have antibiotics everytime I go the dentist anyway, because I have mitro-valve prolapse…its a heart condition.

    Lorrie, I am SOOOOO proud of you!!! Feel free to share your success with us — we’re here for you, Bubbly Chick! :-) I think you’re motivating a lot of us, too. Heaven knows, I can certainly use it. I’ve lost the same number of pounds over and over and each time I regain them, they bring some friends with them. :-( Keeping a food journal is supposed to help — maybe I should give that a try. :-)

    Debra, I’m sorry to hear about your knee problems. I have arthritis and cartilage loss in my left knee — stairs are a killer. Hopefully, you won’t have to go through replacement surgery. :-) You said you brought down your fasting blood sugars — that’s great! Are you diabetic? I have Type II adult onset non-insulin dependent diabetes. It’s controlled with oral med, diet, and exercise. That’s one of many reasons why I’m working on losing more weight. I’m down 30 pounds so far. :-)

    Lynn Eileen, suprised me but the food journal really made me aware of what I eat. As a vegetarian, I look for foods with good protien. Most like nuts, are crazy filled w/ fat. Now I eat more Edamame, and fish to balance my proteins.

    Ok, after vacation at my daughter’s , I’ll try to lose more too. Like Chicky LE, I’m in the habit of loing and gaining the same 5 lbs, over and over. And I really know I do better w/a food journal.

    Not diabetic. Just don’t want to be. Last year I went about 9 months eating really healthily, working out, etc. Thought I was doing great. Then I just started to slip…gradually eating more and more of the WRONG foods. I didn’t gain too much–about 3 or 4 pounds, but it made me mad. It’s easier to eat healthily in the summer. Thank you for the encouragement, Chicky LE!

    You’re welcome, Debra — anytime! :-) You are right about summer — the fruits and veggies (which I love) are more plentiful and it’s easier to get out and walk (my favorite type of exercise).
