Make an E-Hook Leather Bracelet

About this Tip:

Learn how to make a leather strap bracelet with an E-hook clasp. With just a few findings and a leather strap, you can make a bracelet in a matter of minutes. Use our Design Your Own Bracelet feature and choose your favorite from over 700 combinations!

Components:

The products featured in this tip are listed below.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Gather your supplies... you'll need your riveting tools (hammer, setter, anvil, bench block, leather punch), a leather strap, rivets, and an E Hook clasp.
Step 2:
Slide the E Hook clasp onto the leather strap (about an inch from the end).
Step 3:
Fold the leather over and pinch the fold down.
Step 4:
Using the rotary punch and keeping the leather folded over, punch a hole 10-12mm from the fold.
Step 5:
Place a rivet through the holes, while keeping the leather folded over.
Step 6:
Place the bracelet right side up on the dot anvil. Place the rivet setter (dome side down) over the rivet head and get ready to hammer!
Step 7:
Strike the rivet setter with the hammer a couple of times. Check to make sure that the rivet is secure before moving on.
Step 8:
Move to the opposite end of the leather strap to make the loop on the other side of the bracelet. Fold over the end of the leather, then punch a hole through the folded over leather using the rotary punch (about 10-12mm from the fold). TIP: To size the bracelet before punching the holes, wrap the leather strap around your wrist and slide it through the hook portion of the clasp. Find a comfortable fit and mark where the leather folds over (my leather strap from fold to fold ended up at 7").
Step 9:
Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 to make the loop for this end of the bracelet.
Step 10:
Trim the tails of the leather strap on the underside of the bracelet.
Step 11:
Your finished rivets should look something like this.
Step 12:
Hook & Wear!
