movie chick aka susan says:I think y’all know something is up with my mother, well, yesterday it took her two hours to get up off of the couch, my father was on the verge of calling 911 but she finally was able to get up, now his walker is out for her to use, how do you tell one of the world’s most stubborn people that she cannot work in the yard all day because of how it affects her body?…due to other problems with her in regards to my kiddo, she needs to move, I thought she could move to her own apartment but now it may need to be assited living, she will only go, kicking and screaming, boy is that going to make her body ache…anyway thanks for letting me vent

My mom too, God love her, and I love her, is also just amayyyyzing stubborn – frustratingly so. I joke about being a hard headed German – and that tenacity can at times be a good thing, but when it is to their own detriment – and you can’t get thru, it’s maddening, it’s painful… it horrible.
Please vent anytime! I learned from sharing my tale of woe last week, that to some small extent or another, we’re all in the same boat – and nobody has ‘the answer’ or ‘the magic wand’, but the love and support of others is invaluable. My heart goes out to you. Stay strong! – and we’re here for ya!

Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Movie Chick, as you know, we are here for you. We had to put my mom in a nursing home …her stay lasted 2 and 1/2 years. Before the end, she was more than ready to go, but it was so hard, and still is.
I think we cover such a wide range of ages and experience that we can pretty much always have someone who has been there, in somewhat similar circumstances.
Yes, it is very hard to tell the parents who raised us to be strong independent people that they cannot do it all anymore.
These transition times are very hard to get thru’, but just a thought…my mom used to really love a good margarita. That memory makes me smile. Hold on to the good stuff!
