Description from J Yee smart chick: I am pondering about whether or not to take a class this spring, "Lovely Lariats" given by a local bead shop - well, the lariat will be made of fire polished crystal beads, seed beads and metal spacers -
of course, picking a good palate of possible czech glass and seed beads is what had me pondering -
I started with the lovely topaz/pink rounds, and had a difficult time finding a matching seed bead in a tone of pink that would match yet be a good subdued background, grrhh - and the woman at my local bead shop suggested some matte ones in avocado green or taupe - and there you go -
and LB has such fun czech glass ones in other "nontraditional" bead shapes, like the cherry blossom flowers and spicy tuna - oh, decisions, decisions... :);
all while a song one of Teyve's daughters sings in "Fiddler on the Roof" - "Matchmaker, matchmaker, find me a match..." - :), sometimes it takes me longer to figure out a possible bead palette than the actual beading -

Julie Shane says:Too funny! I thought “Matchmaker” was going in the Valentine direction.
LOVE your choices. Look at some of the “Rosaline” seed beads. So many choices. I think the Czech coral ovals are THE best matchmaker! Also like the cherry blossoms. Cute. The spicy tuna is an awesome way to bring in that touch of green. What about the Czech luster verde bellflowers? And/or the wasabi leaves to go with the spicy tuna?

J Yee smart chick says:Thank you Julie and Maria -
will definitely look at the czech luster verde bellflower beads – the class samples use the classic faceted rounds, and those shapes are boring to me – compared to the czech flowers or the spicy tuna ones, or these lemon lime window flowers – I like the window flower beads, and wish LB had ‘em in more colors –

puppychick labratbecky says:You are on the right track and I would go along with Julie’s suggestions, too, and add one more-the green mix hemp or the camo hemp.
Of course, I am partial to green but since you brought it in…. I
I love those oval and rectangle pink picasso’s and the big round pink/topaz luster bead is gorgeous in person. You have to show us what you make!

J Yee smart chick says:Julie, sure wish you were here – that lariat is long, uses seed beads to space out the bigger czech fire polished and metal spacer beads, and there are tassels attached to the end –
and thank you also, Becky for your encouragement – if I were doing this color palette, I too might choose the pink picasso ovals or rectangles, even though I am drawn to those amazing spicy tuna nuggets – will look at the green mix hemp or the camo hemp also, for colors to mix in – too bad the design doesn’t allow for some of these elements, such as the hemp, which comes in such pretty colors like those!!
