Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Ladies, does the Amazonite have too much cool grey tone to work well with the malachite?
On Jul 02, 2009 at 1:15 pm #
KPJEWELS says:I’m no expert but I like the China Chrysocolla, mainly because it seems to have a touch of the colour in the Amazonite in it. Just my opinion. BTW, nice pick
On Jul 02, 2009 at 1:18 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I think I agree with you, 3K. The China Chrysocola seems better, to me, with the Malachite. Oh, my. I feel another buying spree coming my way.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 1:24 pm #
Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Hi Harriet! My .02 is that the Chrysocolla blends better, but the Amazonite is a nice contrast. I would think the Amazonite would look especially good if your Malachite has a lot of the lighter green banding.
Silver is my metal of choice, mainly because that’s what I have a good variety to choose from in my stash. It looks great with all of these in my opinion, but I also love the look of Vintaj brass with the greens & blues of the Mal. & Chrys. combo.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 1:28 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Thanks, Lori. I think you are right about the color of the bands in the Malachite. I have seen some that is very dark, and other that is much lighter. It would make a difference what looks best with the Mal.
I did not try it with the bronze, but I am kind of a silver freak.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 1:37 pm #
Dizzy Chick Lori Z says:Me too! I have always liked the “idea” that the time invested in creating something is also reflected in the materials. I love the Vintaj brass, though I consider it an easy second place to ss, but I don’t like to use base metal or “cheaper” glass or metal.
I hope I don’t sound like too much of a snob! It’s not meant that way at all, but I am known for my expensive taste!

Kitty Chicky Cat says:Yummy pick!! I love all of these together!!
On Jul 02, 2009 at 7:34 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:OK, here’s my opinion:
On Jul 02, 2009 at 7:36 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Just thought you would find that amusing! LOL
Actually, I prefer the Malachite with the Chrysocollla in this pick, though, as Lori said, it would depend on the depth of the individual stones. Surprisingly, I like the sea blue pearls with it, too — really pops! Silver or pewter would be my choice with these. Thanks for asking, Ma’am.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 7:53 pm #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:hmmmm..I like the amazonite with the malachite, although I’m going to go off base here and say blue lace agate with the malachite – similar banding, which would be interesting, and yet still have the striking contrast. And definitely with silver rather than brass!
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:04 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Oooooh, blue lace agate would be very striking! I like both the amazonite and the chrysocolla, but in this pick the chrysocolla won! LOL
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:27 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Have not looked at the blue lace agate with the malachite. I’ll check that out. I love that Fresh Picks let us look at ideas that way. Thanks for the comments, ladies.

Btw. Lori, my daddy told me years ago that I had his kind of taste: champagne taste on a beer budget. LOL
But I really do like real silver with these colors. Pewter is nice, too.
Wish LB had some SS for us…hint to Kevin, or Steve, or Ali, or ???
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:29 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Yup, pardner, that’s the kind of taste I have, too!
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:31 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Maybe we need to saddle up and ride on out West to them thar Nevady silver mines and dig us up some of that thar shiny stuff, pardner! ROTFLOL
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:34 pm #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Harriet, I agree! Silver gives a brighter feel over pewter – think I’ll have to post my malachite necklace on the design page, even though the background is bad. can’t take another shot of it because i sold it, but you can see how silver really brightens it. Maybe when LB makes their move, we’ll get SS!
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:37 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:That’s what I’m hoping for!
In some designs, pewter subs just fine, but in others, you really need the brightness of silver.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:42 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Would love to see your Malachite necklace, Chickie Sue. Still working on photography skills myself, and I do know background can be a problem.
I like the brighter tones of SS. Just looks classy to me, especially with blues and blue tone greens. Cool colors appeal to me with silver findings.
If LB gets SS for us, it would be a lot easier than Lynn and I becoming silver miners…probably faster and cheaper, too. ROTFLOL
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:44 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Do you think they know we are thinking of finding our own silver, Lynn? Maybe it will “spur” them to get us some SS soon.
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:48 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Good one, pardner!!! LOL
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:50 pm #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Arghhh…! You both know, you’ll have to come out to CO to mine proper silver, don’t you? Might be cheaper if LB gets it soon…BTW, the design is posted!
On Jul 02, 2009 at 8:50 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:Yup! Nite, Lynn.
