Beautiful pick! I love Chinese Ocean Jasper!

Your photos are lovely, it does look very calm & serene. You must feel very refreshed, but I think it would be hard to come back to the “real” world after this!

    Southern Chick says:

Thank you Lori! Its been a bit difficult to come back to earth lol…I plan to go back the first week in August with my sis in law.

Hi Jeanne! Good to talk with you. Boy have I missed y’all! I can see a little of what is going on on my phone, but its hard for my old eyes (even with glasses) to see the tiny mess! My middle name is spelled the same way yours is!
I definitely didn’t want to come home.

Thank you Mayan chick! Well, we’ve just decided to go on to Ohio tonight! I’ll be gone for another week…I’ll miss y’all! Keep little notes to tell me about what I’ve missed! In-laws don’t have internet! And most of the time the cell phone doesn’t work either! AUGGGGGHHHHH!

Donna…this is a beautiful representation of the Abbey!! What a gorgeous, soothing looking place!!! Aahhh…wishing I could be there right now! :-D

I’m actually going back the first week of August with my sister-in-law this time. I have a hard time getting used to the noise, though, when I come back to the real world!

  17. Elaine aka Belly Chick
    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

I’d give my eye-teeth to go to a place like that…that second picture with the trees hanging over the path, that is my idea of complete and utter beauty!! Sigh…

  18. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

Yeah, its an addictive place. Very calming and serene. Kind of spartan, though. Houses are old! Church is new, as well as the brother’s dorms, but the rest is rustic. Still its worth every minute that I can get away there.

  19. Elaine aka Belly Chick
    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Do they have places for tourists to stay right in the Abbey or do you stay in a nearby town?

  20. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

We can stay on the abbey property. They lock up at night at 8:00 so its closed to the public. There are 3000 acres, some of which is wild and some that have manicured gardens. There are paths through wildflowers and trees.

    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Sounds wonderful!! I prefer to be with nature rather than to go someplace with big crowds and hectic noise. We used to camp in a tent a lot when we were younger but sleeping on the ground just doesn’t agree with older bodies! But that was the best; hearing the wind rustle the trees and the sounds of nature…sigh! :-D

  22. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

I was amazed at our sound sensitive I was this year when we left. Charleston just “roared”! I just wanted quiet still.
Yeah I camped with my parents in canvas tent back in the day, out west in the US and Canada…gorgeous! Then camped in upstate New York and up and down the east coast. You’re right about old bodies sleeping on the ground, though! Like a bit of comfort now.

  23. Elaine aka Belly Chick
    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Isn’t it wild? I know my hearing isn’t what it used to be but certain things are just SO loud, it’s enough to send me around the bend sometimes!! I can understand how nice silence would be but I never get much of it. :-( Oh well…some day!

  24. Southern Chickie
    Southern Chick says:

My quiet will be shattered in mid August with 20 new little 4 year olds! Talk about a difference! Oh well, they’re fun, even if they are noisy!

  25. Elaine aka Belly Chick
    Elaine aka Belly Chick says:

Oohhh…it sounds as though it was better to go to the Abbey now instead of waiting till just before school kicks in again…you can strengthen your eardrums before mid August! Hehehe!! :-D

    Good idea!
