Fortunately, a proper collection has only one of each so we didn’t have to sacrifice very many. It has always bothered me to kill any living thing for any reason, and that includes the bugs that occasionally make it into my house. I once yelled at my husband for destroying a mouse nest and babies that he found in our pantry in one old house. And I struggle to get rid of overgrown and aging houseplants.

When we had a pool, we were forever rescuing birds, and frogs, baby squirrels, and other critters. I hv even been known to put a few on a heating pad to get their blood flowing. LOL I can get rid of mice & snakes, but otherwise, I just can’t do it.

I love butterflies and am so fascinated with all of them! In my freshman year of high school, we were supposed to put together an insect/butterfly collection as part of our grade. I refused to do it and had to do a different assignment to maintain my “A” in the class. I guess I was a rebel even then!
