Description from Mary S - Sweet Chick: An introduction to my feline pride.
The first line is Frodo(Baggins), a black and white boy. Next is Pippin(Peregrin Took), my grey and white with a hint of brown calico girl. Third is Bilbo(Baggins)a long haired black boy with silver on his belly.
And last but not least is the newest member, Rosie Cotton, a soft mottled grey calico. The names; all hobbits of course from the Lord of the Rings. I am a HUGE fan of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Kitty Chicky Cat says:Mary S, I love the way you decided to name your cats! I have only red through The Lord OF The Rings (including the Hobbit) in it’s entirety once but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it is very appropriate to name cats after those brave slightly pudgy folk.
But I also think cats have something Elvish about them! A friend named her cat “Strider” and he fit it perfectly. “Not all who wander are lost” J.R.R. Tolkien

Yes kitties do have a bit of elvishness to them. Perhaps it’s from the bit of soil given to Samwise from Galadriel that has given them elvish mannerisms.
Anyway, my two dogs are Arwen, a very elvish, mystical black and white, blue eyed husky and Strider, a very tall black and red German Shepherd. Both have characteristics of their namesakes.
