“My California Neighbors...”

Description from J Yee smart chick: in my neighborhood we have these very cheerful bright yellow orange flowers that grow between the crevices of rocks and in lots of yards, just found out they're the CA state flower, California poppies... impossible to do justice to the vivid shades of lovely yellow and orange... with lacy leaves...

You did it! This is a great Poppy Pick! :-)

We had these at our previous home, and I have to get them going again. They really do well here in West Texas, and come back every year once established.

Oh California poppies are beautiful… Brings back memories… Many years ago my husband and I planted California poppy seeds. We planted a lot!! They kept “popping” up! LOL They were beautiful!

Hey Susan, I’m not in California – I live in Seattle WA these days. However I did live in Los Angeles many years ago, during the mid-eighties as I was just beginning my first career, I lived and worked in the Southbay area of the city.

I love these bright cheerful flowers, so I finally picked a few of ‘em from a traffic circle in our neighborhood while walking this week, am trying to grow ‘em… :)

What a bright and happy pick! Love the warmth of the poppy colors as well as the shimmer jut glowing from within the sunstone and the rutilated quartz!
I hope you have great success in growing your own poppies in WA!

Love your pick! Perfect colors! They come up easily here in central TX. They harvest the seeds for baking. Mama buys them to make poppy seed kolachi–a Czech pastry. Delicious!

I was born in CA just when the poppies were beginning to bloom and new lambs were all over the hills. I lived there again when I turned 14. I love those flowers. I want to plant them here, too. Let us know how yours do, k?
