Description from J Yee smart chick: Doing another one for the turbulent romance of Senneth (the mystic who can control fire and heat) and Tayse, the loyal King's Rider who is reluctant to love her, due to the difference in their social stations - she is originally from a high aristocratic family, and he is from a working class family whose men have served as Riders to the King for generations... it all works out for them eventually, but I love the complicated characters that Sharon Shinn makes them... with all their fears and doubts about themselves... both highly competent people who doubt their self worth, esp as romantic partners...

J Yee smart chick says:Thank you Maria – I highly recommend Sharon Shinn – although I will add a warning: she is a storyteller, so her books have a lot of in-depth characterizations, and the alternate cultures her books are set in sometimes takes awhile – and while there is sometimes violence in her stories, it’s definitely part of the developing plots – unlike some authors who have lots of action, not much character development… and – er, dare I say – lots of “sex” scenes, vs. good plot and character development…
