Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:This looks beautiful and sounds delicious, KH! Do you have a recipe or just throw it together?
On Jul 04, 2009 at 8:39 pm #
K H says:I just threw it together – Went to the store this morning – saw some beautiful napa cabbage and fresh cilantro. The pimintos were on sale. Rinse, tear, toss. No dressing (other than a little bit of liquid from the pimintos) required.
On Jul 04, 2009 at 8:50 pm #
Smoky Rose says:never heard of it, KH, but sounds good!
and lookin sharp! I googled a recipe before for crock pot pulled pork… easy enough…. but holy cow, has to live in there forever… that would be good with this, I think!!!!
On Jul 04, 2009 at 9:18 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Hey, that’s my kind of recipe, KH! LOL
Mary, you’re cracking me up — is it one of those “place lid on top and leave undisturbed for 3 days” recipes? ROTFLOL
On Jul 04, 2009 at 9:43 pm #
Smoky Rose says:pretty much, Lynn! had some at work the other day, made me want MORE, but heck, there are not even enough hours on a weekend day to watch the crockpot THAT long…..
On Jul 04, 2009 at 10:20 pm #
Karen H aka Fancy Chick says:and I do love to watch a crockpot and keep lifting the lid when I’m not supposed to….
On Jul 04, 2009 at 10:23 pm #
Smoky Rose says:oh, yeah, you have to lift the lid! you don’t expect me to trust that it’s quietly doing what it is supposed to do, do ya?
On Jul 04, 2009 at 10:48 pm #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:That’s why I added that word “undisturbed” in my comment — I can NEVER just leave it alone!!!
On Jul 04, 2009 at 10:50 pm #
Smoky Rose says:yeah, ‘undisturbed’ is not a word in my language, Lynn!
On Jul 04, 2009 at 11:07 pm #
CAS says:I found Mom’s Crock pot!! It’s in the garage (yes I know, funny place to keep it, but closet space is at a premium in our house), I’m thinking of making Vee’s Chicken & Dumplings … but now Mare’s got my mouth watering for pulled pork … what to do … what to do … ?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 12:24 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Well, you could fix one dish one day and the other the next!
BTW, Christine, did you and AquaKitty find anymore hidden beads in your mom’s crock pot? ROTFLOL
On Jul 05, 2009 at 1:44 am #
CAS says:Aqua Kitty got too engrossed checking out the tuna cans in the pantry to look for any beads, he thought he might “liberate” them since it was the 4th of July. I didn’t argue with him since he was such a help finding the Crock pot, I figured it was his reward.
lol
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:03 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Wow KH, this looks refreshing – and so does your recipe! Apparently the other girls think you have to make this with pulled pork – which i’m hoping Smoky will share the recipe with us, cuz CAS wants to use her crock pot!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:08 am #
K H says:To make pulled pork, take a pork butt and rub in in some good mustard (not weinie mustard) and brown sugar/hickory flavored BBQ sauce (SBR’s is best). Roast the meat, then shread it and add the rest of the bottle of BBQ sauce and the zest and juice of an orange. This gets better with age, so make a day or 2 in advance when possible.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:10 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Sue, did you see Dreamcrystals aka Vee’s pick “Chicken & Dumplings” a few days ago? That’s what started all this crazy talk about cooking with our crock pots!
Actually, this Napa slaw would be very tasty with chicken & dumplings, too.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:11 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:What is SBR?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:13 am #
K H says:Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. I hope the mods don’t get mad about dropping a name brand.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:14 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:OK, I have to admit that I actually laughed out loud and then clapped my hand over my mouth so I wouldn’t wake up my hubby when I read the term “wienie mustard”!!! I know you mean regular, plain, hot dog mustard, but it sounded as though you were criticizing the mustard for being “such a wienie”! ROTFLOL
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:15 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:DUH — I know that brand! It’s great! Just couldn’t get my brain to decipher your secret code. LOL
Thanks!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:19 am #
K H says:HAHAHAHA Weinie mustard – it works both ways IMHO.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:20 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:KH, thanks for sharing the recipe! I wrote it down and plan on making it this week!
BTW, your pick inspired me – the apple green turquoise gave me the idea for another salad – pick to follow…
Hey Lynn, don’t know about your Bob, but the only mustard my Bob will use is ‘wienie mustard’
wimpie!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:23 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Actually, Bob likes wienie mustard on hot dogs & ham sandwiches and spicy mustard on other types of sandwiches & bratwursts. He has a very sophisticated palate. ROTFLOL The reason I am laughing is because if you looked in the dictionary under “meat and potatoes guy” you would find a photo of him!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:24 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:ok i’m clueless – IMHO?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:26 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:KH, I was laughing so hard that I forgot to thank you for the great recipe! Have you ever tried it with pulled chicken? It sounds like it would be good that way, too.
Although I’m not sure where to buy a chicken butt……
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:27 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:OK, here is my best guess — no offense if I’m wrong, KH — does it mean “I am hungover”?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:27 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:“Butt” what, Lynn? hahahahaha
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:27 am #
K H says:In My Humble Opinion.
Silly question, but did anybody get any “real” beading done today? I did a little stringing, but alas, I am out of the findings I want to use to finish. How does that always happen?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:30 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:I had high hopes for getting some beading done today, but alas, it was not to be(ad)
Hope to do some tomorrow before we head to a car show. And I’m easily distracted; i pull out some beads I want to work with, see another, and get a different idea – anyone else do that?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:32 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:1. Boy, was I wrong on the meaning of IMHO!!! LOL
2. Butt what? ROTFLOL, Sue!
3. If one could purchase chicken butts, how many would it take to equal one pork butt? ROTFLOL
4. No.
5. Yes.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:35 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:4. No. This was in answer to the question regarding the accomplishing of beading today. LOL And the reason we run out of supplies on a weekend/holiday is because it is a weekend/holiday and the stores are closed. The End
I didn’t say it was a happy ending…..
5. Yes. This was in answer to getting distracted by one beading project while working on another. ALL OF THE TIME!!! LOL
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:37 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:In Sue’s case, the reason she runs out of supplies is because she lives on top of a mountain and her supplies have to be airlifted in to her by Tad and AquaKitty. ROTFLMAO
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:40 am #
K H says:I had a lime green piece of shell, on which someone painted silver bamboo. I strung up some green seed beads, tiny green bicones, silver seeds, very pale pink seeds (to bring out the pink reflections in the shell and a few silver lineds clear glass “disco balls” I need a nice silver pinch bale to pull it all together.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:42 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:And no stores were open today because of the holiday? Or do you live too far from any?
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:42 am #
K H says:My favorite local bead store will be open tomorrow with holiday weekend specials. Yippy Ki-Yay
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:42 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:BTW, your necklace sounds lovely — a great summer piece! Looking forward to seeing a photo when it’s complete!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:43 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:We have a local bead store and a Hobby Lobby, but both are closed on Sundays.
On Jul 05, 2009 at 2:44 am #
Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Hey KH, I’ve got a silver pinch bail – but you’ll have to come and get it! or, as lynn said, maybe we can have Tad and Aquakitty come and airlift it to you!
you’ll have to share your design when it’s finished – sounds wonderful!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 7:29 am #
Smoky Rose says:sounds like you guys had A LOT of fun last night – this conversation is hilareous! Lynn, when you find a good chicken butt recipe, let us know!
On Jul 05, 2009 at 8:41 am #
Karen H aka Fancy Chick says:I sure didn’t get any beading done yesterday! Only virtual beading and playing. I had to clean off the “beading table” in order to serve a nice grilled steak dinner to my friend last night. She felt very privileged to get to have “dinner” on the “beading table”.
On Oct 25, 2009 at 11:54 pm #
Faithful Chick aka Faith says:Wow this pops!! I made a table cloth in 4-H many years ago of bright lime. I own so many clothes in this color. Never occured to me to wear the red I love also.
Wonderful wake up call. Life is too short to not wear and do things you do not normally do or wear. Age really does improve all of us. LOL
