On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:35 am #
ChickyD aka Debra says:Love this!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:39 am #
Smoky Rose says:do ya’s? thank you! I was forcing myself to use yellow last night. not a yellow fan until I discovered (skoobie doo style, a Roooo!, it goes with brown!) – I was getting tired and just couldn’t play anymore. Nobody was up an hour ago to chat with, so I finished it up. anyway….. long story short, Thank you!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:40 am #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:I’ve never used yellow, but I LOVE this! Well, thanks for finishing it!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:43 am #
Smoky Rose says:Thanks Little Chick! I’m forcing myself to use things I never otherwise use. It can be frustrating, but fun, too.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:46 am #
Luv2bead - Little Chick says:Yeah, well keep it up…!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:56 am #
Cathy H Chocolate Chick says:Very pretty – the Golden Horse Jasper pulls it all together!! Love the brass flowers in there – looks JUST like a gate.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:04 am #
Smoky Rose says:thanks! I don’t think I’ve ever touched the idaho plume or golden horse – who knew!?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:45 am #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Gorgeous!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 9:47 am #
Smoky Rose says:‘morning, Ivy! thank you! – holy cow, don’t take this the wrong way – now that I see you here – makes me think (imagine) these gates at a villa – maybe in Cuba? PR? Italy? I was getting so fatigued last night and still couldn’t pull myself away – Joyce actually named one of my others ’cause I was fading.

On Apr 27, 2009 at 12:05 pm #
Kitty Chicky Cat says:Very rich pick! But where’s the garnet?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 12:07 pm #
Smoky Rose says:I know, Kitty – no garnet, no smoky, no pearls…… told ya I was tired last night
thanks!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 4:09 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:I can almost hear the squeeky hinges!! Yellow can be fun to work with – glad you’re giving it a try!!!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 4:12 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Shannon, I’ll be honest, I still can’t warm up to it. I’m trying hard because ‘the customers’ demand it
my only current client is Mommy – sad – but really, figure eventually I’ll need to do stuff others like, not just me – can’t build a whole business around smoky quartz……. or can I?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:11 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Sure ya can!!! I still can’t force myself to use a stone I ‘hate’ (fortunately, there aren’t many of those)! The Palm Jasper is one (yuk – sorry)… Don’t think there are any more of those anyway! Some have markings that remind me of bacteria under a microscope – can’t use those either. That said, if someone else wants it and is paying for it – well – I’ll use it and LIKE it!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:16 pm #
Smoky Rose says:bacteria under a microscope! that’s good – I’ll have to remember that! lol
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:22 pm #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Hi Mary! No, why would I possibly take that the wrong way?? If anything it’s a compliment, silly! lol This is such a beautiful pick with all the browns, yellows and reds with the brass filigree pieces, I love it. Oh, and about not using stones you don’t like–that’s exactly what I do. I only make jewelry that I myself would wear. I figure it’s my art, it’s a reflection of who I am, so everything that I make has to be something that I would proudly wear. And if for you that means every piece has smoky quartz in it, then so be it! That’s your signature!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:41 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Ivy – I do like that way of thinking. That is a must, to our own selves be true, right? We are the artists – we can take cues from their preference of colors – but style is our own. If they don’t like the style, there’s someone down the block that they will like, right? I would still wear this – with brown, or wine, or black, I just don’t see it going to my Favs of my jewelry box – know what I mean? Is that the same as you’re thinking?
I just get very concerned about offending these days – this medicine has me awful punchy and I am afraid of something coming out the wrong way. I’m talking soooo much more and…. you know. Interesting, when you travel abroad and meet folks from Europe, they looooove Cuba – we, me, have no idea what its about – that whole Kennedy thing was occuring when I was an infant…. politics aside, I’m curious.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:42 pm #
Smoky Rose says:not even an infant – when my older bro was an infant, what am I talking about?
On Apr 27, 2009 at 6:53 pm #
Happy Chick aka Harriet says:I know what you mean, as I’m not a big fan of yellow (or yellowy browns). I’m still working out how I want to use my big LB bronzite pendant. The problem, as I see it, is the pendant is NOT blue. Even so, I do need to reach out of my comfort zone so as not to get stale.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:01 pm #
Smoky Rose says:yup, the ultimate style is our own – this is my style – not my choice of color, but there’s me in there – that’s the important part, I think.
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:09 pm #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Yeah I really don’t know too much about Cuban politics except that they’re screwed up so I can’t help you there; but as far as culture I can tell you that the Cuban people as a whole are a very proud, strong, family-oriented, spiritual, and fun-loving people. We LOVE our music (it’s a basic necessity like water!), we LOVE to dance, we are very passionate, we LOVE food!, we tend to be overly superstitious. Of course, these are all generalizations, but most of the stereotypes are true, the good ones as well as the bad. (Including the one about Cuban men having bad tempers!) It’s hard to give you an idea of the culture by just using words, you can get a better feel of it by renting a couple movies like Lost City, The Arturo Sandoval Story, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and of course The Buena Vista Social Club. It’s also said that Cuba has some of the best beaches in the world, so that could be part of the Europeans’ love for the island! lol Hope this helps your curiosity a little!
Oh, and about your jewelry pieces, I hope one day you wouldn’t mind posting more pics because I’m sure they are all beautiful
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:14 pm #
Smoky Rose says:Thank you, sweetheart! and yours too! I’d love to see them. You have a very distinct, spirited style. That is exactly what I was looking for – culture – countryside. I’ll check out those movies. My husband is a big movie buff – me, not so much, so he’ll be thrilled that I came up with some titles, thanks! As so far as politics…..eh, I’ll rely on those smarter than me – well then again….no, don’t get me started! I’ll be sure to offend somebody and do not want to do that!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully things will change with the relationship somewhere down the line, in the future, if it is for the best of our nation.
In terms of Germans, they say we are hard headed – that what my mother in law says anyway……(she’s not German) in terms of Virgos, they say we are creative nit-picks – yeah, some truth in stereotypes, I am a hard headed, creative, nit-pick
On Apr 27, 2009 at 7:17 pm #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:LOL but in such a good way!

Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Love the convo on Cuba! I have Cuban acquaintances in Orlando…Love the food – the men (the ones I know) are drop dead gorgeous (and, Ivy, the ladies, too!), and the music – get outta here…! Hope relations improve with the current admin…the Cuban people deserve so much more than they’ve gotten and it is a beautiful country (though I haven’t been) – their economy and citizens would benefit from our loosening up a bit…OOPS..didn’t mean to go all Face the Nation here!!!
Smoky, are we on the same thing…Boy, am I yakky! Gotta go eat dinner – Chili-dogs tonight!!! Yummmo!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:20 pm #
Smoky Rose says:yeah, I’m with you on the men, Shannon – this, with my limited exposure, I have noticed – and ladies too – yes, like our Ivy. This is my understanding of the politics, economy too –
I don’t think I’ve ever had any food – plantains – they’re caribbean, not Cuban per say, right? not a big plantain fan – but I would be most happy to try other dishes.
Chili dogs………oh………. I want chili dogs too – or buffalo wings
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:24 pm #
Shannon aka Silly Chick says:Ha… That was last night!!!
Ivy really is beautiful isn’t she!!!
Ok, I’ll ‘see’ you peeps in just a bit…maybe I’ll even do a pick tonight!
On Apr 27, 2009 at 8:26 pm #

Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Hi girls! Just checkin in for a quick second, been pretty busy lately with all the restaurant prep. You guys are too much with the compliments. But thank you very, very much. I can’t argue with you about Cuban men
but my heart is with a wonderful and very handsome Puerto Rican man. Our baby boy has the best of both worlds! LOL
I’ve seen some great picks lately but don’t even have time to comment on them!
I’m hoping tomorrow morning I have a little more time to chat with my chicks. Hope everyone is well! Talk to you all tomorrow

Anita QoG Funny Chick says:Miss you!!!! Ivy don’t work TOOOOO hard!!! I’m great!!!!
On Apr 28, 2009 at 5:31 pm #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:Hey Mary! No, how about Adam Rodriguez from CSI:Miami? OMG. Actually he’s half Cuban half PR but whoooo!! If you don’t watch that show, Google a pic of him. Delicious. Okay, okay, let me stop! LOL Gotta run, making dinner for my chulo before he gets home.
On Apr 28, 2009 at 5:32 pm #
J Yee smart chick says:love these conversations about whether or not to use stones (and other beads) that we aren’t attracted to, and the ongoing other about Cuba!!!
… and have a bit of school writing to do in the next few days… not much but gotta get it done!!! hard to stay away from Picks and chats!!!
I too haven’t had quite so much time today/this week, couldn’t get my laptop to connect this morning
On Apr 28, 2009 at 5:57 pm #
CAS says:Ivy, I dream about Adam Rodriguez!!! He is SMOKING HOT, utterly YUMMY-looking and talented to boot. He could eat crackers in my bed any day of the week! Woooooo-hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On Apr 29, 2009 at 10:17 am #
Cuban Queen Crazy Chick says:LOL!! CAS, you have great taste! He could eat crackers in my bed any day OMG You crack me up!! I like to think that my husband is a slightly older but equally talented version of him
Hey, maybe Antonio will grow up to look like him! lol
Again, great picks everyone, but I gotta run!! Chickies, have a great day!!
On Apr 29, 2009 at 10:20 am #
Smoky Rose says:what! what! who is eating crackers in who’s bed? what am I missing here, you spicey girls?
On Apr 29, 2009 at 10:21 am #
Smoky Rose says:ok, as long as we’re talking about eating crackers in bed. the music is an inspiration, I keep going on, and on, and you guys are probably sick of hearing it already – but if Bruce wanted to eat crackers in my bed, that would work just fine here. I’ll be back, running to the grocery store for saltines right now!
