Description from Little Round Chick: Yesterday I went on a back country trip with a friend. We went to the Palomar Observatory and saw the BIG telescope. It has a 200 inch piece of pyrex glass for the mirror or what ever the part is called. EVERY THING about the observatory is VERY LARGE! We went through the museum and saw some of the most impressive photographs I've seen in a long time. We were at an elevation 5500 + feet and the sky was a gorgeous shade of blue, the temp was in the low 70s. The majority of the trees are evergreen with a sprinkling of mountain oak with gold colored leaves. Beautiful scenery but still showing the scars from the last big fire.
