Thank you!!! I have to tell you – Put on a pear green colored spring sweater this am – looking, looking, hmmm, brown skirt or black skirt. Black is obvious – black always works – Let’s try the brown! – and I like it! – so, I brought it to a pick. Inspiration is found in the strangest places!

morning chicklets. mary i like this pick-nice and chic looking-i bet you look so very cute. i am dying for some of this peridot but it is a little above my budget right now! maybe i could afford it if i didnt buy beads twice a week. i am excited i was invited to bring my pieces to a heritage festival. i am very nervous about it. i just sell directly to my friends and coworkers now. excited but a little nervous. anyone have any suggestions for my first display? thanks so much

    Good for you Single Chick!!
I’m excited for you. When is the festival?
Soon? Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, I hear ya about buying beads twice a week. I have really put the breaks on buying beads for now because I placed several this month. It’s just too darn easy to be tempted each and every day with the pick of the day and the big green bead machine.

There are so many ideas for displays. Not sure what to suggest. Just make sure it reflects you and your style. You’ll do great!

Single Chick, congrats!! Little Chick asked the same question (on 4/28/09) about a set-up/design display on one of her picks (“Set-up Design (Please Help)”), and I gave her some suggestions which might give you inspiration. I’ll put my thinking-cap on and try to think of some more.

Morning Monica!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS! I am so thrilled for you!
    - we have folks come into the hospital and sell stuff. a portion of the procedes go to the hosp. at first, it bugged me – I thought it was tacky…. but as time went on – and I do love this facility – and now especially with the economy, however money gets in the door is a good thing! So, there’s a young lady downstairs today selling jewelry that she crafted. Pretty, pretty, pieces. Right behind you, Monica – one of these days, I’ll have the guts to be downstairs with my pieces. Nervous is normal!!!! SO happy for you!!!! Go get ‘em, girl!
-I have never displayed, but always imagined that I might drape some pretty fabric or table cloths over boxes of various sizes on a table, then place the pieces on top – imagined maybe the dimension may add interest…. but really, I don’t know…. just my day-dreams.

Smoky – Mornin’…errrr…afternoon? Whatever! Can’t be real tomorrow if you don’t daydream it today…I don’t sell a whole lot, but my sister is my ‘model’ (she’s a teacher) and her colleagues usually buy up a few pieces now and then, esp anything seasonal – or with ladybugs!

Love your pick – and, of course pear goes with brown – aqua and brown is another great combo in wardrobe and jewelry! Bet you look gorgeous today!!! Dressing up for Mr. IT guy??? HAHA!

  12. CAS
    CAS says:

Smoky Rose Chick – I have a friend who used to own a Scrapbook store, and she still occassionally does Scrapbook retreats where she sells her inventory. She has yards of fabric (different colors/designs according to season) which she simply drapes over boxes to use as stands, she also uses a variety of baskets & plant pots to display items.

    Smoky Rose says:

hey, Silly Chick! Good! ’cause I daydream A LOT! ;) I hear ya, and thank you for that encouragement!
Too funny! everybody calls Mr IT guy my ‘boyfriend’ – because they call for help and he’s up in a week…..10 days. I call for help and he’s up in 10 minutes! Well – so glad you asked. Go figure – and I love the Plucky put it… would I rather be techy or creative…. I’ll take creative! with that creativity being SOOOOOO strong, there is only limited space for technology. Do you know – I bought the wrong thing!!!! I bought a wireless card – not a router. Who knew???? That’s why it didn’t work!!!!! – go ‘head, laugh at the blonde……. ;)

  14. Shannon aka Silly Chick
    Shannon aka Silly Chick says:

Can’t cast any stones in your direction Smoky – Blonde to the root!!! (except in the fall when I have the urge to be a red-head!) So, you buy a router(?) and problem solv-ed – yes? Back to the 12-year-old techspert, huh? He gonna SO love seeing you again!!!

  15. Smoky Rose
    Smoky Rose says:

Thank you for the ideas, CAS!

Yes, Silly – I believe if I head back tonight and get a router – which is alllll together different from a card (which IT says I already have …. again, who knew?) I should be good to go. I should have taken my ‘boyfriend’ shopping with me last night! as for the 12 year old….. he ought to learn more respect for his ‘elders’ – and what up with that, do we no longer have child labor laws in this country?….. ;)

Not when the little buggers will work for min wage!!! I’m trying to talk husband into the same arrangement (the laptop, I mean)…If, he can get one inexpensively…But I also want to turn the computer room into an office-cum-craft sanctuary – may have to make a choice between the two – Right now All my beading paraphenalia is in the dining room at the op end of the house – too far away from the ‘puter to both bead and keep up with the chick picks! :(

This looks just like the flowering pears did before they froze! Sooo pretty!!!

Good luck to the beader stepping out of her comfort zone and getting out there to sell! I’m with you all in the nervousness of displaying your handiwork. It’s nice to hear of someone gathering the courage to jump in! We’re rooting for you in the background!

love this summery Pick w/the copper pears… anyone else notice that these aren’t listed in the “copper beads” section??? :)

Single chick, so glad to hear yuou are going to take that big step and try to sell jewelry to folks where you work… maybe figure out if you can have some “tea and bead” parties… does your workplace have any break rooms? might be good areas to begin… I had that suggestion made by a woman a few years ago when I joined in with 3 other women to hold our collective art show at my friend’s community room in her building… she suggested I bring stuff by her office around holidays… love all the cncouragement here! Lorrie, love your website, agree w/ CAS – your family bios rock, so refreshing and heartwarming!!! :)

Thanks Joyce! – they are in ‘smooth or faceted’ copper beads – I think that’s the wording, check it out.
